Sims 3 Island Paradise slowdown performance issues

I'm having the same lag issues every few seconds or so.  I'm running Island paradise on an Alienware M17X R4, 8 gigs of Ram, I7 and 2 gigs GDDR5 on an AMD 7970.  Never thought I run into any issues, but I hope it works itself out.

Also make sure that you have the newest drivers.

Also try resetting all your Sims in your town with the cheat resetsim *.

You might have a stuck Sim somewhere

Thanks I'll try some of these things out.

How can I check for the latest drivers? Game recognises my graphics card so I'm fine in that regard- I will reset the sims shortly but surely that won't affect the fact it's slow to load up?

Slow at load up is mostly caused by lots of extra content.

I've had the exact same problem. Tried all of these suggestions even contacted EA and did all of their suggestions too. Now I've just come to the conclusion its a fault with the software and it can't be fixed. Maybe it can who knows but nothing seems to work and it's incredibly annoying
