Sims 3: Island Pardise Cyclic Redundancy Check

I have the sims 3 base game installed. Previously I also had all the other expansions (and one stuff pack) installed when this happened, so I tried uninstalling all the games, installed the base game, and installing island paradise.

No luck.

I've tried chatting with EA around six times now.. I wait an indeterminable amount of time, only to never talk to anyone, so that is no longer an option.

It's sunday, so the call option isn't a thing either.

The disk is not scratched. I have defragmented my hard drive multiple times. When this happened on my desktop, I defragmented the hard drive and it worked perfectly. However, no such luck on this laptop.

If i don't get this to work, I'm selling all my sims and ignoring EA for the rest of my life, and my children will never know the joys (or hardships) of playing Sims.

  • Also, I forgot to mention that I can't download it from Origin because in order to do that, you have to register your game on the sims 3 website, and it won't accept my code even though I bought the game myself, new, from target.

    Did you buy the base game back when it came out or did you re-buy it ?

    What error are you getting when trying to register ?

  • I assume it was bought when it first came out; I have the original and I have deluxe edition which is really just the original with the ambitions pack included. However, a friend gave me these a couple years ago and this is the first time I've had such a problem with any of them.

  • Also, the error when I try to register my copy of island paradise (and into the future), it just gives the standard "this code is invalid." I bought both expansions myself, new, at Target within the last year.

    So it's just the Island Paradise disc that gives you the message ?

    When you were in contact with a game advisor, did you tell them that you can't register the expansion ? Do you have the base game registered ?

  • Correct.

    I do not have the base game registered, but I have other expansions, worlds, and stuff packs registered. I never got to talk to a game advisor because every time I try to chat with them, I wait for an indeterminable amount of time and never get to talk to anyone.

  • Unfortunately I've already gone through your document for it, I was hoping to get some other suggestions by posting on here.

    When the chat window opens, it says the standard "please wait while we connect you to an advisor" or whatever, and i never get connected to one.

    Could you try with another browser (live chat) ?

    I wish I had other suggestions but I sadly don't.

    I would just try the call back option tomorrow.
