Store content disappearing from sims 3 version 1.69

Hey, help needed getting game running 1.69 with all expansions and some store content!
-and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one, I miss Roaring heights... if only it didn't disappear every time launching the game :')

So what happens is the ea app auto updates sims 3 or auto repairs the sims 3 after which it disables the store content installed. *surprise pikachu face* The content isn't gone from the documents or my pc - it is still there. The content simply isn't appearing/registering in game. I believe the issue may be related to the store content being validated for version 1.67 and not 1.69. Curses! Could the kind gnomes in ea games get their cowplants together and revalidate the store content for 1.69 so it stops vanishing ingame? It is getting rather annoying to purge DCCache and reinstall all store content every single launch time. TYVM. Not going to get sims 4, your company does not spark joy if ya can't keep your old games in a running order.

Ok. Rant over, feel better. Does anyone here know how to fix the sims 3 issue of vanishing store content without getting an offline bootlegger version of sims 3 with all content and bypassing these **bleep** ea online launcher things ruining a good game? Cause that's about the only fix I can think of...

  • freontwel  The Store content worked fine on patch 1.69 for years before the EA App came along.  That's not to say that it never disappeared, but what you've described was relatively rare absent other system issues.  It's still not common, just more common than in the Origin days.

Anyway, the next time this happens, try deleting the SigsCache folder instead.  If that doesn't help, empty DCBackup as well as DCCache before reinstalling the Store content.  I would also suggest installing the content into a fresh Sims 3 folder, and keeping a copy of this folder on hand so you can restore it if and when the Store content disappears yet again.  It's easy enough to move your saves and other user content to the new folder.

Finally, when installing Store content, make sure the individual .ebc files in DCCache don't get much larger than 200 MB (204,800 KB).  A bit over is fine, but something in the range of 230-250 MB may corrupt.  The technique here is to install one world first, then progressively smaller sets until the files gets over the 200 MB line, at which point the launcher will create a new .ebc file the next time you install anything.  Then you install another world, then sets, then smaller sets, rinse and repeat.

  • You could try this one, hope it works!
