All Water Activities should be available in all Worlds that have bodies of water

EDIT: When I originally made this post, I made an error and sourced a news article that was incorrect. I apologize for any confusion I have caused.

Moving forward, here is a WIP of a table that lists all water activities available in each World. I will work on finishing this list in the next 24hrs and adding the remaining worlds.

If I have made a mistake or missed something so far, please comment below!

  • Corrected San Sequoia to reflect all water activities being available in Gilbert Gardens. Thank you to DzikhrafSims on Twitter for pointing this out! 💚
All Worlds, all activities

Breakdown by Neighborhood:

FRUSTRATIONS: Multiple Neighborhoods have large bodies of water in them, but Sims can only fish in most of them. This is a simulation game, but this significant limitation is so dissatisfying and disappointing.

FEEDBACK:

  1. If there is a large body of water in the World, our Sims should be able to do all water activities (fishing, swimming, bathing in water, and kayaking) and not be limited to just fishing in most worlds.
  2. Also, certain Neighborhoods look like they contain large bodies of water, but once your Sims get there, you find out there's no water at all.

Here's a great example; in Parched Prospect (in Oasis Springs), there is a body of water that looks like it's a part of the Neighborhood in the World View...

...but there are no water activities available in Parched Prospect. That's because this body of water is only accessible through the Bedrock Strait neighborhood.

If that weren't enough... at Parched Prospect, there is a giant fountain in the distance, but my Sims can't access it. Almost like it's taunting me in this desert...

I'm not saying every Neighborhood has to have a body of water available, but it's a lot to keep track of as a player, and there are a lot of inconsistencies.

Caption: Another example... on The Crumbling Isle, there is a beach that looks like it should be accessible for swimming, kayaking, and bathing in water... but all Sims can do is fish.

(3rd pic incoming once it uploads)

Caption: Meanwhile, Sims can fish bathe (but not swim or kayak) at Magnolia Promenade.

It's just really confusing. There is no consistency and not enough disclosure from EA, before the release of packs or otherwise. This leaves the fans guessing, trying to figure out where features work. Plus, the fans are given no reason why some features are cut from certain Neighborhoods, but not others.

It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I just wish things were easier, more consistent, and cohesive.

Original Post:

Why, why, why, why?! 😭💔

Why can Sims only go Kayaking in...???

  • Sulani from The Sims 4: Island Living
  • Britechester from The Sims 4: Discover University
  • Nordhaven from The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies
  • Gibbi Point from The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits

Why?! This makes me so sad 😭💦

There are 27 Regular Worlds + 3 Destination Worlds, for a total of 30 worlds in the Sims 4 (if including all DLC). Currently, we can only go Kayaking in less than 14% of all Sims 4 worlds! To be fair, I don't think there are any bodies of water in Batuu, but still!!! This decision by the developers doesn't make any sense at all! If there is a large body of water in the World, our Sims should be able to kayak, period.

This is a simulation game, but such a huge limitation like this on kayaking is so dissatisfying and disappointing. It's bad enough Sims can't swim in certain bodies of water and can only fish... but now Kayaking too?? 💔

This information should have been disclosed to the public before releasing The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits. This easily could have been mentioned during a dev livestream, dev Q&A, or official blog post... but it feels like it was purposely omitted so fans wouldn't be discouraged from purchasing.

Please consider allowing our Sims to Kayak in all large bodies of water, in all Worlds. Limiting your players like this isn't good optics and it's just tarnishes brand loyalty when you don't disclose important details.

Yeah, I play spellcasters that tend to usually live in Glimmerbrook and spend a lot of time in the Realm of Magic neither have places to bathe. And in Innisgreen the neighbourhood in Sprucederry Grove there is one obvious place one can and cannot bathe, and having to go to the right one then back to fishing spot was getting tedious.

Honestly, we do need a comprehensive list/spreadsheet on all cross pack features that work, don't work, and should work. A shared google docs spread sheet with a handful of trusted volunteers to help keep updated would be great so it doesn't fall on one individual—would be ideal.

I don't have all packs or I'd try to help make and maintain a mass cross-pack request thread, but without dev feedback in posts, why put so much effort into something that will probably be ignored? X /

I'd love it if a company rep or dev would supervise the top wants for cross-pack updates/fixes. So many things that I have seen, and asked for myself are not too hard to do, some modders or myself have made mods for it, but it should be official!

Not to defend the TS4 team (because I hate them too), but sorry, you're totally wrong.

I’ve tested kayaking in these worlds: Tartosa, Tomarang, Ravenwood, Moonwood Mill, Copperdale, Mt. Komorebi. All of those worlds (and maybe all worlds with swimmable water) can do kayaking, and the interaction 'Paddle Here' is available on the pie menu.

Please do more research/testing first; don’t just base it on internet articles.

    Here's the screenshot:

Moonwood Mill (I can't click Paddle Here because it's winter and freezing in my game)

    Cooperdale (same freezing too)

Currently testing all 30 worlds for:

    • Fishing
    • Swimming
    • Bathe in Water [EBN]
    • Kayaking [AA]

It's taking longer than expected, and I already stated I would provide more comprehensive feedback in another comment below.

Please don't criticize me for being delayed in updating this post, when I had every intention of correcting it. Save that energy for pointing out The Sims 4 bugs 💚

  • Funny enough the places I'd need the most don't have bathe: Glimmerbroook/Magic Realm, Granite Falls and Selvadorada. As these places I tend to have more collector/outdoorsy/homeless Sims exploring the most. I do use Ravenwood and Innisgreen too, which have plenty of spots. Maybe that is why, I felt the feature isn't really implemented.

But I think it is because they are small worlds and/or hidden locations, large worlds they (the devs) made the effort to have more water features. I still think that, if there is water, effort should be made even if small worlds and/or hidden locations. The idea of bathing in nature instead of going home, so why would I go to another world just to bathe in nature? XD
