Ever since the new Sep. 18 update my sims in game pictures disappeared from their inventory and show up black on the wall. As well as whenever my sims go to grab something out of the fridge, try to eat or try to cook they glitch and reset.

With the cooking/ eating issue, does your sim have the secret spice perk? If they do, this thread refers to this issue

If they don’t,try moving the whole mods folder to another place, delete the localthumbcache.package and then test to see if the issue remains without mods/cc there.
