Hi, I have a little problem with the new sentiments, they are wrong. I relly think sentiments is a good idea but I need a cheat to add and remove them. Just a few minutes ago i was happily playing The Sims when my Sim got a new sentiment. I was exited but when i read the sentiment i got both annoyed and confused. My Sim had just broken up and she got some kind of love sentiment for/with her ex. I obviously wanted to remove this sentiment but I can literally find no site that tells me how to do. Can some kind soul tell me what to do and if cheats surrounding sentiments relly doesn't exist i think that it should be added a few. RELLY thankful for help!

I agree with sentiments not disappearing over night, but the problem is not that. The problem is that the game sometimes assigns them stupidly and often without context. Like my sim after a perfect date got a festering grudge and I have no clue why. Another time I got festering grudge because they didn’t like a gift. Really? A bit extreme for unwanted gift and deep-seated grudge from that. Maybe they might be disappointed but festering grudge? When you make such a big issue from a small interactions it makes the more impactful interactions diminished in value. Which is a big issue with this game among many other issues. It lacks proper connection to events, traits, relationships and now sentiments are no different. It did not take under consideration any facts before assigning sentiments either. That makes it look glitchy. For small interactions there should have been a smaller sounding sentiment, like slighted. Festering Grudge ? That sound like they stole your wife not gave you the wrong flower. It’s just badly done and when sentiments take effect a notification with an explanation would be nice. How is not knowing what is going on good for story tellers? I don’t think context is too much to ask in a game that supposedly simulates life. And then the sentiments are assigned without any connection to traits or animation presented and so on. For example during neighborhood brawl game scheduled event my sim gets into a fight with his BFF. After they are all happy and hug it out. The game assigned a furious sentiment to the sim who is hot headed, and should love to fight in a game created event. He even has a loves this tradition assignment. The sim even got a confident emotion after the fight and was by all accounts happy about it. So why the furious sentiment? Once again a feature designed without any regard for traits, situation, relationship, whims or anything at all. Just puff here is a sentiment that we just gave your sim without any logical explanation. If I wouldn’t have initiated the event and it would happen spontaneously there is no notification that explains what just happened and why is the sim harboring a negative sentiment. Once again no one bothered to connect game elements from previous packs and incorporate traits, reputations that would warrant a sentiment on a specific sim. So it is based regardless of things that should matter and assigned on a situational random basis. That seems very superficial and simply sloppy.

Hi all! Unchecking the box only disables the Lifestyles not the Sentiments. I too find the sentiments annoying and also find that even though Deeply In Love is long term, it fades fast and they are just smitten again. I have to take them on dates often to get the deeply in love sentiment back. I've also had to move out my sim's son in law as she is thinking about him all the time, even when woohooing with her husband! I can imagine all sorts of scenarios kicking off, esp. with these new sentiments! So far The son in law hasn't even noticed he's been moved out on his own and he has the "family" trait! So messed up! Anyway, I'm ranting... just to confirm the checkbox is for removing lifestyles only.

@Trismagistos Turning off another feature because it wasn’t designed correctly. Sounds like a sims 4 solution. I like some of the sentiments. I think the player is asking for a cheat that would remove a sentiment that in her opinion was assigned incorrectly. I think it is a fair request. Give me a cheat with which I can remove a sentiment that was added without any visible reason to have happened. I’d like that as well

Oh my gosh. I really hope eventually there is a cheat or something that can get rid of sentiments. It’s my first day actually playing since the update. I have a mom and a TODDLER. That’s all. Her sentiment towards her daughter was adoring, which is cute right. But then I was teaching the daughter how to say please and thank you and the daughter was throwing a fit about it so they got the - friendship thing. AND NOW THIS MOTHER HAS AN INFURIATING RAGE TOWARDS HER DAUGHTER LIKE ????? Help

@hannahjobe Right?! It’s so annoying. My Teen now feels rage every time she sees her dad and the sentiment won’t go away after some time either, it’s been like a sim week and the sentiment is still there and she gets angry every time? It’s also annoying because she will just randomly fight her dad? Same with the boyfriend she just got, now she gets tense every time she sees him. Or the holiday where you can fight your neighbors? It is a “friendly” interaction but she gets a “hurt” sentiment because of it!

@FlufuLisa This is exactlyI why deleted Neighbourhood brawl, My sims are disappointed after disabling, but at least they're not mad at each other! I really hope the devs are reading and learning from our experiences, how badly this sentiment feature is affecting gameplay. I hate the word "cheat", I prefer "workaround" which I will do until they tone these sentiments down. I don't believe children should be affected by them. After all, parents need to discipline their kids. New relationships shouldn't be affected by a silly incident that happened at a festival to that extent. But for now, page 3 of this thread.

Hi. I realize this is an old thread, however, I have the lifestyles box unchecked in my game, which is up to date even almost a year later, and that box does not change anything about sentiments. I just no longer get an notice that my daily lifestyle cap has been reached. Sentiments are still front and center. I have found no way to turn them off. I find them annoying. Example: I'm working on my painting aspiration using the museum easel. (Yes, yes I could cheat but choose not to) So I spend time working to get very inspired, start painting and my best friend comes in and walks up to me and all that goes out the window because the sentiment turned me playful. ANNOYING. Same situation but this time my boyfriend walk in and up to POOF! Flirty. Sentiments are annoying to me and DO NOT go away by unchecking "Lifestyles". Gladly take any other suggestion on how to turn them off. I do not run MODS so the game is as is. Thanks.

@Turlovian I've noticed the smitten sentiment is a pain as everytime the smitten sims are near each other they're flirty and couldn't care less about their babies or anything else they're doing! They go to talk to plants when they're flirty, unless I force them to woohoo! It just seems nothing can get done beause of the sentiments as their little simmie brains are not focused on the task at hand. I want to raise my kids well, but these distractions are making it harder than it already was!

@Turlovian Hi! I absolutely despise sentiments! If you don't mind using cheats, then you can use the cheat to add/remove sentiments in the spoiler below. Just type Control+Shift+C to get the command prompt in the upper left. Then copy and paste the cheat into that prompt and hit enter. I actually got these from @Gednaa a while ago when they shared them in another thread. I saved this list to a text document to make it easy to copy/paste. Hope this helps.

For this string, the initial first/last name is the name of the sim who has the sentiment, the first/last name 2 is the target of the sentiment. For example, John Smith is smitten with Jane Smith. To remove the smitten sentiment, the cheat would look like this...

Another thing that I find a bit creepy is kids getting the "impressive person alert" towards their father. I guess the Father must have been mentoring them with something while I was at another household, but it's kinda creepy. Of course a child is impressed at their parents' skills and mentoring, but is this really necessary and does it need to look so creepy in the game?

...and to add, it's not good when a child is impressed by one parent and has no sentiment toward the other. (except for deeply connected as I made her best friends with both parents.). It's that surprised face moodlet that pops up that makes me shudder!

If you have testing cheats on (yes, console players, sorry) there IS a remove all sentiments cheat if you shift-click your Sim.
You also might be able to use a mod like UI cheats (again, sorry console players).
Sentiments can be really cute, but I really hate it when they're "wrong." Like, toddlers with festering grudges because they don't want a bath. Or the time when my Sims fell victim to the hiking bug and I canceled the hike and they all got a "furious" sentiment towards the hike leader because she got them "lost." (No, they were all standing in place doing nothing!) Or, you know, when I want an enamored couple to do ANYTHING that requires a mood that isn't flirty.

I don't think they were saying that they didn't want to play with sentiments, I think they were referring to the random placement of them and wishing for it to be fixed and run properly.
