Can you give heirlooms to adopted kids?

I had my sim adopt a child but when I go to set things as heirlooms he's not on the list of possible recipients? The sims team said that heirlooms can be given to children so I'm not sure if I'm doing something weonf or if you just can't give them to kids who are adopted?

    @sunniboy Can you link where they said it can be given to children ? Was that during the livestream ? For me it hasn't work on any of them. Just teen and up.

    EDIT: Seem that in the livestream they explicitly said that children were too young.
