Can’t work on university presentation

Hey so my sim can’t work on her term presentation. The board is in her inventory and when I place it in her home and click it, it just has the “put in inventory” option grayed out and tells me she does not own it. I’ve tried putting it back in her inventory and pulling it out again and still no luck. Ive tried repairing the game. I don’t use mods or cc.
