CAS pre set filters... hot and cold weather jewellery and make up. Why?

So CAS isn't always kind to the console player. It sticks it freezes and sometimes I just want to get out of there as quickly as I can.

But it takes me twice as long because the filters for hot and cold weather filter out all kind of things automatically and you have to go into the settings and take off "Hot Weather" or "Cold Weather" only, just to get what you want. Can someone please explain to me what is a Cold Weather earring? It can't be down to the size incase you lose an ear lobe on a ski slope because there are still big earrings on the list.

It also applies to Formal Wear, if a Sim has facial piercings for example they are filtered out. Woe betide the Sim who walks into the Starlight Awards in a full length ball gown and an eyebrow ring.

So I'd really love to just have all of CAS open to choose what you want for any occasion. I understand some clothing is set for hot and cold weather effects but filtering out jewellery and even make-up just means I have to spend ages trying to get the accessories I want.

I wear the same makeup and jewellery in cold weather or hot weather, who am I kidding in the North of England...make that in cold weather or even colder weather.🥶

  • I agree that the filters don't make much sense for jewellery and make up (and socks and hair I might add), other than maybe filtering out elaborate formal diamonds/pearls from the sports category. But "formal" is far too narrowly defined, hot/cold makes little sense, and how exactly are we defining "party"?

The filters make more sense in other categories like tops and outfits, though again I feel "formal" and "party" are too narrowly defined. On a computer it's not too much of a hassle to remove the filters but - here I agree again - on console, the clunky controls make it a huge pain to edit the filters, especially if you've already started scrolling the options and then realized what you want's not there (I only tried base game briefly on PlayStation before going back to my computer copy).

@PipMenace Yeah I remember it being a bit easier on PC. Right now it sticks on every item when I change categories and I can't scroll so I have to backup and open the list again to select something. It's click, click, swear, click.

@EA_SolaireThis thread could be considered (in part) further console controller feedback. If you can't improve the mechanics of the controller, perhaps at least default to the filters off in certain categories... or use this as an example of why the current mechanics are less than ideal.

@PipMenace Yeah, I mentioned the CAS issues on that thread the other day but the thread itself has been a bit quiet in terms of engagement. I'm sure the feedback is going to be used but I'd love to get an update on any progress they've made. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.
  • @simsplayer818I think Make Up/Jewlery/hairs need to be not filtered by outfit category. Like with the uni pack small pony tail it isn't tagged as formal and therefore doesn't apply if you want it for all outfits. However I think feminine/mascuine HAIR tags need a whole redo, some of the ones youd expect to be for males arent. But what I am noticing in recent packs is the hairs made for males are converted for females but some female shorter ones arent getting tagged for males even if they use it on a male townie/sim in trailer OR even the pack assets. There are also many many cases of this being the case with hairs converted for all ages not having consitent tags. The tags for the "head" part of sims need a complete redo.

@gooochyeee You're absolutely right about the hairstyles. If you're quickly creating a Sim and you just want to quickly set one look at their start point it's frustrating when you switch to the next category and the filters have removed the style or accessories you wanted. It's particularly problematic if your CAS has a habit of crashing.
I also forgot about the hats and eyewear too. There are even some sunglasses that aren't available in the hot weather section.
If it's not too laggy and I'm not rushing I often like to remove all the filters for gendered fashion too. I think it would be good to just let us customise our own.

@simsplayer818 Honestly everything on the "head" section shouldnt be tagged by outfit category, And The masc/fem hair tags need a redo
