Complaint about EA 'customer service'
Hi I'd like to raise my frustration at the misinformation provided by EA and the poor handling of my discussion with EA representatives.
I am living in the UK and want to play the Sims4 in the Polish language. I have the sims 3 (UK version - physical DVD copy) which offered me the option to install in several languages. I check the EA website about what languages are supported and saw that around 17 languages were supported
Taken directly from your website:
The Sims 4 will support the following language:

So I went to a store when out shopping and bough a physical DVD copy of the Sims4 (UK /version again) expecting to be able to install in any one f these 17 languages mentioned. Sadly it is not the case that I am able to play in these languages - when I install the game, not only do I have to go through the origin client anyway but I am also only given the option of English language - which is pretty useless to me. Additionally I have now used the Serial number that came with the purchase so I'm unable to return it to the store, unable to re-sell to anybody else or do anything at all! Had it been made clear to me that I would have to buy a region specific version of the game then I would have done.
When trying to raise this issue twice with customer support (#54015945 & #54066541) I am given a whole heap of rubbish about what I should do:
- Take it back to the original retailer, there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that we can do, it's nothing to do with us
- The retailer you bought from is not an authorised seller, so we cannot guarantee the game was genuine
- Go back to the retailer (in the UK) and ask them to sell you a Polish language version of the game?????
- If I ever want to play in any of the supported languages I have to
- Go and buy a copy of the game in that country
- Install it while there, so that origin picks up the IP address of that country
- I should have googled "how to change the language in the sims4" and seen that certain languages are region specific (you mean I should not have trusted the information provided on the EA website????????)
- in the UK i "should" be playing the English language version - my favourite... showing EA to be a completely discriminatory organisation
Anyway, I'm left with nothing. No escalation process, no apology, nothing. Just that it's my fault for being so stupid to trust the info posted on their website.
All I'm asking for is that somebody within EA/Origin can look at my account, see that I legitimately paid £30 for this game from Smyths toys (a massive chain of toy shops) and used the genuine serial number to install and activate it. Surely it can just be 'transferred' to a Polish version that I can download from origin.... surely?
We just bought my daughter a new laptop and this was our first adventure into Origin. If not resolved it will surely be our last
I have now had this resolved by an EA head of customer relations, if anybody wants to know how I got there feel feee to message me
