Does Grief work in multiple households?

To answer my own question… in my current game, Grief only works for the active household, since they’re the only ones that get the sad moodlet. I’m actually not sure if this is a bug or by design. But it’s really disappointing that even the sim’s husband doesn’t experience grief when she dies, because he wasn’t in the active household.
