JonahSparkles It's not a bug, it's some kind of system issue. As for why it happened, it's very difficult to tell after the fact. I could speculate, but that wouldn't be useful since it wouldn't change the outcome.
Please run the search, if you're still interested, and let me know what you find.
For the sake of future prevention, please let me know where you've installed Sims 4. You can see the location in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.
