If you want to save pictures and stuff that fits on a wall shelf, just make a wall. You can use both sides and save it as a room. Then you don't have to have space for a full room when you place it on the lot.
That’s fine but I wasn’t even moving them between lots. The reason I had put pictures in the chest was to get them out of my sims’ inventories. I just thought it would be a good place to store the ones I didn’t want to display. Then all of a sudden they had turned all black. I put all pics in the electronic frames from Moschino Stuff now - but I wish those did not share an inventory (of the same orientation).
