Holiday Sale Broke My Game

For two days now I couldn't play the Sims because whenever I went to click out of the holiday sale pop up when you start the game it would black out my game and I'd have to shut it down via task manager. I figured it had to be some bad CC so I went through my entire Mods folder trying to figure out why my CC was suddenly glitching out when it had been working fine the prior day and there hadn't been any updates. Turns out the CC wasn't the problem. The issue is that I can't click the X button. I have to click "Shop Now" and that takes me into the game flawlessly even with all my CC. EA is so money hungry that I almost quit the game in frustration thinking my game was broken.
