How can I remove all romance options for the Sims 4?

Hi.  My daughter (young elementary school age) loves building the houses and designing and dressing the Sims characters. She can spend hours building the houses and her Sims characters.  However, she wants to play the rest of the game (i.e., the non-building portion of the game) too. Is there a way where we can disable the romance need/interaction options so that she won't see options like "pick-up line" and other romance choices?  We'd love for her to play the game but just would prefer that she not have to be exposed to the romantic functionality/choices until she is a little bit older.

Thanks in advance for any constructive responses.

No, the game is rated Teen for a reason. You should probably worry more about other aspects of the game such as dying. If you want to let her play you should probably monitor her.

It would be cool to have a sims game for kids, my daughter would love it! She is only allowed to build and fashion out as well because of the other game play. Besides, sometimes the flirty and romantic aspects get in the way of gameplay; would be nice to be able to choose whether you are interested or not in romance.

  • I know EA tried a MySims spin off (back in the Wii era) but it isn't what I am looking for now.  Glad to hear that I am not the only one who is trying to hold the door closed on the romantic aspects of The Sims.

Regarding the Grim Reaper, my daughter has lost her grandfather and a pet or two...she has had to come to grips with death and to put it in context already.

Thanks all for the responses.  Bummed that there isn't a toggle to turn off....

  • Not that it will solve the issue completely, but there is an option for an unflirty trait.  Though it won't take all the options away it will lower the chance of them succeeding and the character will more than likely just walk away from the conversation with an embarrassed moodlet rather than a date.

  • Thanks. Probably still not enough to get it approved by my spouse.  Take care.
