I love sims but tired of the work issue

I keep moving sims out because I want to make a big family, but at the same time it’s annoying going to different households and then when I return to other ones they haven’t been working and making money, I have a few households that I need to work on their houses but unless I stay on those households for long periods of time they don’t make any money for me to be able to do anything and I like playing each household not just focusing on one, the game would be a million times better if they fixed this issue or if anyone has any clue how to

Yeah, when you play rotationally, households don't earn money when you're not actively playing them. That's just the way it is. They don't earn royalties, either, but they also have no bills.

If you're not averse to cheating and you want to pretend they're earning money when you're not playing them, you could figure out how much they earn in a week and then cheat that amount onto them when you return. Just make a note at the start of the week (I play week rotations) and the end of the week, and then when you pop in a week later add that amount to their household, for example.

If you ARE averse to cheating, or are on console where that's penalized by denying you trophies, I would suggest getting into side activities like gardening. If you have City Living, ALWAYS go to the Romance Festival and steal the plants to plant at home. This will give you a nice daily bonus of cash.

Making money is honestly one of the easiest things to do in the Sims and there are lots of other ways you can do it. Common go-tos include painting, licensing music, flower arranging (ties in well with gardening flowers), etc. Some of the odd jobs in Island Living are pretty lucrative, too.

  • I've had this issue too. What I do is always keep my families as an active household and make sure that neighborhood stories AND aging are off from all active households. Then I ensure that I play a very strict amount of days in each household (so that they all age at the same speed) and don't bother the other households during work hours. Calling them to visit or visiting while they are meant to be at work can end up spawning them on the lot as if the family had never even gone to work (at least for me). So I do family visits during their days off or late in the evening, to try and make sure I don't interfere with their work.
It is super frustrating tho that they feel almost "still" while I'm not playing with a specific family. Like they aren't living at all and just * up stuff.
Maybe turning on neighborhood stories for the families you aren't playing with might make them feel more lively, but I don't want to risk someone adopting 7 dogs or switching jobs from a stage 10 doctor to a lvl 1 fisherman. XD
