my sims believe there’s a fire even though they put it out

hello! so all the sudden while planting the sims my households dryer (from the laundry pack) started burning, this has happened once before in another household so i did the same thing as the. and put it out. it took a while as all my sims freaked out and tried to run outside instead of extinguishing it. but even though it is put out the sound of a fire can be heard one floor up over where the fire happened and my sims can’t do anything since when i click on any button it just says that there is a fire on the lot. i can’t save and i would wish to not have to quit without saving. it has been an in game hour since the fire stopped and all my sims are still incapable of doing anything except freaking out about the fire that has already been out. the sim that put it out has both the tense fire moodlet and the confident fire-figher moodlet.
