  • @f8b2mx92kvto I can't see it happening but they do sometimes drop quite a bit of free content in major updates. For example the recent changes to CAS options and the new Wants and Fears system.
To coincide with different cultural celebrations or the launch of a new expansion pack we've had recipes and build mode items added to the base game. So I think that's how we'll continue to get free content.

I don’t think they will make packs for free. That will make many people very angry. People got already angry as the team added some DLC hairs/items to the base game. Now what you think would happen if they would make DLC for free? Nah, that will definitely not happen.

Maybe they will add some more DLC in EA Play. I think this would work better and make EA Play more attractive for people which don’t want/can’t buy any DLC, but really the whole game goes often enough in sale. Sure, it still cost much money, but you don’t need to buy all DLC with the first sale. Many players which have all sims4 packs play this game since 2014 and bought over years all DLC and not all for 850+ right away.

  • I do think perhaps after some of the issues with new packs in recent years that they should be heavily discounted on first release. Sometimes they are cheaper but I think they should be quite a bit lower due to unforeseen effects and the damage they can cause to our games. I think they should be released as content for us to pay a smaller fee and to test first, for all of us. My game still hasn't recovered from Cottage Living or Wedding Stories, gameplay became a nightmare and now in fact I can't even currently play it as it just crashes to homepage. CoL I added straight away and could have kicked myself, it broke so many features that still are not fixed. DHD is still quite broken. MWS, worked in build but not gameplay. I can't even explain what happened to my Sims.

So since we kind of run the new content and test for bugs and report back so they can work on the problems, then perhaps a much lower introductory price. I mean, console players can't even bundle packs.

So I'd suggest when a new pack is released maybe a different way to do would be to say here you go players, we're charging a nominal fee for this new content, run it and let us know how it plays. We already kind of test all this new stuff anyway and that would kind of formalise that relationship in a more productive and honest way and avoid players being quite so upset in the future and waving around the "R" word.

I don't think that the fanfare and TA DA!! Is the way to go with new content in the future after all the reported issues. I know there are pre releases to some players already but it still doesn't seem to identify and fix it all before we all get to purchase it.

I think IMHO this might be a fairer way to do it. But nobody forced me to buy packs when they were first released and it was my choice to buy them after seeing all the creative content it would bring to my game, as a builder I always want more content and new worlds. I can see the amount of work and attention to detail in the expansion packs. There are so many variables to consider, I've no doubt as we all have a different combination of packs on different platforms. It wouldn't lessen the impact of updates, they've wiped my game twice. But at least it wouldn't have cost us so much money for something that looked amazing but still needs more attention to be fully playable with our existing content and on our chosen platform.

Highly doubt EA would do this especially considering how long this version of the game has been out for and how many packs/expansions etc that have already been released. The extra content is great but with over 50+ add on's how much more can they seriously think of cramming into this version of the game.

I also don't think EA will ever make packs free.  However, I really like @simsplayer818 's idea.  Perhaps there could be a limited time / limited quantity discounted release; within a specific window, there is some discount for the first 500 (give or take) purchases.  This just might garner more interest in the release, some users could get the pack a little cheaper and EA wouldn't really lose anything.  I hope EA gives this some consideration!
