Alright. That's such an odd bug, and it seems pretty rare too. I hope this gets fixed as soon as possible and your gemology worktable works again soon.
- LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
I also hope that this gemmology worktable will work very soon, that a patch can be applied so that I can finally play with creating jewels and cutting gemstones, and also test their effects on the Sims' moods.
For the moment, all the contents of this kit are of no use to me, since it's impossible to create anything on this table. If the game doesn't detect the materials you need to work with, even though they're present in the table's supply and in the Sim's inventory, this becomes non-existent game content, because no gameplay is possible.
Thank you for your support, I hope you enjoy the rest of the evening, and I hope you enjoy the game!: 🙌
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@LinetteMJ Have you done a folder reset yet ? (rename user folder, test new save)
- LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
Yes, I also renamed The Sims 4 folder to The Sims 4_old. But that hasn't changed anything, I still can't create jewelry on this gemology workbench.
I started a new game with a new Sim, and once again this table remains non-functional. Finally, I think it's the game itself that doesn't see the necessary materials in the work table reserve or in the Sim's inventory. The game doesn't detect crystals or metals when the choices window appears for Model, Crystal and Metal, it's empty.
I've repaired the game twice, applied the latest patch released this week, and it's still the same. - crinrict2 years agoHero+@LinetteMJ Do you get any exceptions ?
- LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
Yes I have a lastException file, I try to attach it to my response, but I have never done this, and I can't do it I admit 😳
I'm running my game to see if it produces a more recent LastException file.
As soon as I started my game, a LastException file appeared in my folder. I'm including it in this message, as this file is more recent and I no longer had any mods in play compared to March 06.[CM Edit: Formatting]
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@LinetteMJ Can't access those as they are set to private. Could you make them public,
- LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
Can you access it there? I never use this Google cloud and so I don't know how it works. I clicked so that this is all the people who have access to the link, but I don't know if this is what I needed to do
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@LinetteMJ yes it works now but these are all from a modded game.
Try deleting the files you have, then trigger the error (with no mods/cc) and see if a new file is created. - LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
I sent you a more recent file, after this one which dates from the 6th.
I had run my game to see if it produced a newer LastException file. But the message formatting made this new file that I had attached disappear.I no longer have any custom content in game since this last LastException file that I had dated 6
- crinrict2 years agoHero+
@LinetteMJ I'm really sorry to be a pain but these are all known mod exceptions but since these don't have the client info present, I can't verify that.
If newer LEs get created, old ones are usually renamed. Old ones are most of the time not interesting either cause they could be from anything really.
So the best you can do is delete ALL the exception files you currently have and trigger the error today. Then upload todays exception if you get any.Did you already delete the new save/Folder you created ? The LE from that would be most interesting.
- LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
I have to admit I'm a bit confused for this moment. There was no custom content in the game, and you say that the data in this last exception file lists errors related to their presence in the game.
For the last file in date the 06, indeed there were still mods which were present in game on that date, but for this last file that I obtained yesterday these mods were not present, there was no personalized content in game since last 06.
In addition, yesterday, to better check how the game works, I have started once again a completely new game to play it with a completely new Sim created, and this on maps containing only in-house creations and community spaces from the game itself.
Previously you told me to try deleting the files I have, and then throw the error without any mods or scripts added (I don't use CC) and see if a new Lastexceptions file would be created. But my mods folder is empty (and no Lastexception file is present in the user folder when I launch the game, and no localthumbcache.package). Which implies that there is no custom content in the game. So how can the game suffer from errors that would mean that it is the mods that are currently causing the game to malfunction?
It's true that I've been using some mods for a while, most of them are utility mods we'll say and replacement mods, and they've been exactly the same for a very long time, and have never caused any problems in my game as long as they have been checked up to date and are compatible with the game. Additionally, every time I exit the game, I delete the localthumbcache.package file from the user folder in preparation for the next game session.
Here is the list of the only mods I use, mods declared by their creators to be up to date and compatible with the game:
- the Tmex-BetterBuildBuy and Tmex-TOOL mods,
- the UI_Cheats_Extension mod,
- the mods MiozreYukii_NoFadeEverything_AllPacksCombined and MizoreYukii_StandStillinCAS_All-in-one,
- mods modifying the appearance of the loading page in the game and also for the background image in the CAS, and also every 20thCPlumbob-MapReplacement to modify the appearance of the maps,
- Fogity_Hidden_Highlight to avoid having a white outline on the Sim and on all objects,
- Kuttoe] PotionRework - ToggleImmortalGlow.package which removes the infinite glow effect around Sims' heads when they have the Immortal trait,
- [hepandeerus] ColourBuildBuy-v3.package which colors the elements on the house of choices for the elements of the Buy Build mode,
- TURBODRIVER_InteractionsQueueExtender in order to be able to anticipate a greater number of actions for my selected Sim,
- LittleMsSam_Transferinventory so as not to have to move an item by an item from the Sim's inventory to the fridge,
- and I also have mods that manage certain decisions in the Sims, acts of autonomy shall we say, and these mods are the MSQSIMS_No Autonomous mods for autonomous acts that occur to the extreme in our Sims, like by example playing in mud or leaves whenever it is nearby, or constantly doing push-ups on the ground right in the middle of ongoing actions, or constantly using the phone or watching TV, fixed idea of going swimming in a swimming pool whenever there is one in the Sim's environment, drinking glasses of water at any time, and so on. I have around twenty of these No Autonomous mods, and this, because they allow me not to suffer the permanent cancellation of the requests that I make to my Sims, all these actions that I ask of them, and which cancel themselves as soon as I launch them. Which is still very appreciable, because actions which are constantly canceled amount to a very unpleasant game since the Sims never respond to what they are asked to do.The parameter to manage autonomy and which is found in the Game Options, well this parameter does not prevent the Sims from constantly presenting a spectacle of tocs and fixed ideas. Many of our Sims' autonomy actions are incredibly over-managed by the game.
For custom content, until these creators indicate that they are compatible with the game, I do not submit their mod files at game. I only introduce those that the creators have indicated are tested and compatible. Except for personalized content which is very very old. These are contents to manage visuals in the game we will say, those :
- no longer see the three zzz's when Sims are sleeping,- not having the musical notes on the devices broadcasting music,
- no longer have body parts blurred when Sims go to the bathroom or take a bath.
Every time there is a new game update and new official content for the game, I delete all the files that are in the mods folder and also the localthumbcache.package file if it still exists before performing these additions to the game. Then when this update is applied, I restart my computer, then I install the new official game content and restart my computer again. I then launch the application and my game, still without content in the mods folder. When I arrive on the game's home page, I see the small descriptive window which shows me all the new official content of the game. I launch my last saved game to play it for a few minutes, then exit the game without saving, with the aim of being able to stay at the same time of my last progress, that of before the last update and the addition of new content to the game.
Once these steps are completed, I visit the mod creators' sites to verify that they have tested their custom content, and that they inform users that all this content is up to date and compatible with the latest game update , as well as with the latest official content added to the game.
I'm reintroducing mods and mod scripts that are up to date with the latest version of the game, as well as the latest official content added to the game.
But there, since last 06 there is no content file in the mods folder, the game part that I played yesterday in order to obtain a Lastexception file was without the presence of mod files.
After reading your last answer I have a question because you say this: These are all known mod exceptions, but since these don't contain the customer information I can't verify it.Is it the fact that I am playing the game in Offline mode on the EA app that would have produced this lack of customer information? Because it is true that most of the time I launch EA app offline mode and I play the game like this, so that my game is not disturbed in-game by the application as well as by the elements present on the game homepage. All these background requests using data on my device while I'm in-game can cause slowdowns or lags in-game, or even a game that suddenly stays fixed on the screen. Searches for new updates or updating of elements can be done outside of game part, as well as searching for data related to what I am doing in-game, or with what I have been able to visit , added, or modified recently on the EA application or in game, and at least that's my way of reasoning.
I'm going to restart the game by logging in to my account on the EA app and play this time with the game connected to the internet, then I'll check if a new Lastexception file has been created in the user folder, and I'll send it to you as soon as I've left the game.
On the other hand, one fact is certain, which is that for this Crystal Creation Kit, it has never been functional for me, since its introduction into the game.
I have never been able to get my Sim to create anything on this gemology worktable, despite the presence of crystals and metals in the worktable's reserve, and also present in the inventory of the Sim.Noting this lack of functionality for this work table, I nevertheless opted to start on a new game part with a brand new Sim on the worlds maps containing only elements of the game itself, in order to check again if this concern was existing too. And even on this game part, it is impossible to use the functionalities of this work table, the game does not detect the crystals and metals in the table's reserve, nor in the Sim's inventory.
Thank you for your patience, and of course for this support that you offer us daily so that we can once again use in good conditions the games application, and all the content for this The Sims 4 game. - crinrict2 years agoHero+@LinetteMJ Lack of LEs doesn't necessarily mean that there's no mods. There are many legit game issues which also cause LE but they are a good indication of WHAT is wrong in the game.
Mods such as MCCC and BE create their own exception files. I think MCCC even removes the game ones and just create MCCC ones. These errors can be both mod related or game related.
The problem with the LEs you sent me is that they were from before you removed your mods completely and if the game doesn't throw any with all mods removed, then it's harder to tell where the issue is coming from.
So old LEs from before you removed your mods, aren't helpful for the current issue with removed mods. That's why I usually ask to delete all exceptions and let the game create new ones on a vanilla game but if there aren't any, then that's that.
As for the missing client info. That can have two reasons: You're playing offline or you turned of data sharing in the options. It's not a bad thing to do (I personally don't share my data with EA), it just doesn't tell you plainly if an LE is on a modded game or not. Even if it is on a modded game, it can still be a game issue.
So back to your issue at hand :D
- If you don't have any gems in the Sims inventory or table inventory, do you also have issues with the window being empty ? AFAIK there should be choices you can buy if you have nothing.
- Could you maybe post a picture of the window you're seeing ? - LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
Indeed, in the Game Options, I always leave data sharing disabled. And since the redesign of the in-game Gallery, I have also deactivated online notifications, since we are in the dark about everything anyway, we no longer have any notifications concerning new creations published by the people followed, nor to know if a written appreciation has been sent to us by another player, and idem a total vagueness regarding the downloads made by players on our sharing or if a player has newly subscribed to our sharing account. And in reality, I hardly go into the game Gallery anymore, I now consider it as a semblance of a storage cloud, and even if this semblance of a cloud was unable to recognize what was initially saved in the in-game library and displays numerous creations in three or four copies, and that it is then not really ideal to be obliged to load numerous lines of the same creations in duplicates to finally be able to find the creation that we wish to put back on a ground in play, but hey, it doesn't matter, we'll be satisfied with that!
I don't use the MC Command Center and Better Exceptions mods, and so I actually can't check if any errors or bugs during the game session were listed on their exceptions file.
I understand what you are explaining about LastExceptions files, the game itself without even having custom content, it can also present these kind of files listing errors in the game.
The game actually created a new LastExceptions file when I started a completely new game playthrough with a new Sim created in order to retest the game. This was the second file attached to one of my previous answers, but as you pointed out, this did not present any customer information and therefore could not be used to work on it.
In addition, my game part saves were always present in the saves folder, and the same for the files in the Tray folder. Therefore, I wasn't in vanilla mode at all during my previous tests, sorry. Disenchanted by the arrival of these problems in my game, I completely forgot that I first had to delete from the game all the files in the saves and Tray folders.
I see that I'm digressing again, I admit that I tend to elaborate a little too much, and sometimes even a little off topic too...
So, to get back to what interests us...
To try to find out what is happening, and possibly to be able to determine it thanks to new Lastexceptions files that would have been created, I therefore carried out tests on the game again today, there are 5 of them.
The test No. 01 was carried out without the presence of personalized content in game and without having reintroduced all of my save files into the saves folder, nor any files into the Tray folder. It was indeed a game part as if I was launching the game for the very first time. And I was connected to my game account ID on the EA app, and therefore also connected to the internet on the game.
- Before launching the game, I renamed the user folder to The Sims 4_old, in order to start again on a folder newly created by the game, and I also repaired the game again before relaunching it .
The observation was:
- Well in vanilla mode, no exceptions file was created in the user folder which had recently been recreated by the game.
- For the very first time since I added this new kit to the game, crystals and metals were finally detected by the game and then, this time they were clearly displayed in the window where they are offered when we make choices (Model, Crystal, Metal) to be able to create jewelry or cut precious stones. This gemology worktable seems to have been unlocked since the Sim was finally able to create jewelry and cut precious stones without any problem.
- I also noticed that at the level of the Crystal Artisan aspiration that I had planned in the CAS for this Sim, the action to buy a gemmology work table had finally been validated, whereas on my previous attempts this action was not validated at all although my selected Sim had purchased this work table.
- And on the crystal grid are currently precious stones and they are charging.
- At the level of the collections also there was a change, the three new crystals and the three new metals were finally registered, the game having finally recognized them as being acquired by the Sim for each of these two collections.
The test No. 02, it was carried out on one of the saved copies after having saved the newly created game part before using it to carry out my various tests, and I had reintroduced all the files that I usually use in the Mods folder, the same ones I cited above in a previous answer.
The observation was:
- Same as previously, this test 02 responded in exactly the same way as for test 01. And no exception file was created in the user folder.
- Test No. 3, it was carried out on one of the other copies of the newly created game part, and this time with the reintroduction of all the contents of my saves folder and my Tray folder. I had reintroduced all my game part saves into the saves folder as well as all the files in the Tray folder.
The observation was:
- As before, this test 03 responded in exactly the same way as for tests 01 and 02. And no exception file was created in the user folder.
Test No. 04, it was carried out on one of my game part saves, and this one launched without the presence of mods, only all of my other game part saves were present in my saves folder and as well as the files in my Tray folder.
The observation was:
- Same as previously, this test 04 responded in exactly the same way as for the three previous tests, everything works well with this gemmology work table, except that an exceptions file was created in the user folder. I am attaching it in the zipped file on this answer.
The test No. 05, it was carried out with the presence of mods, and with all the save files in my saves folder and those in my Tray folder.
- I launched one of my game part saves.
The observation was:
- Same as previously, this test 05 responded in exactly the same way as for the four previous tests, except that, as for test 04, a new exceptions file was created in the user folder. I also attach it in the zipped file on this answer.
There for the moment, all the features on the Crystal Creations kit seem to have been unlocked, the gemology work table finally displays the crystals and metals to be able to work on the creation of jewelry, and probably because I played in vanilla mode to start these 5 tests on the game.
However it turns out that playing on one or other of my game part saves, well this creates a lastexceptions file each time I launch one of these game parts during one and the same daily gaming session since the end of February.
Today, I allow myself to think that the cause of the problems that have affected me since the end of February would perhaps be the very last update of 02/27/24 for the game and the application of the E-Patch of 28 /02/24 which followed and which did not help me either, since the proper functioning of the last new official content added remained as is in my game, unplayable content. And the update of 03/06/24 which subsequently caused an influx of exception files in my user folder when I was launching one of my game parts during my gaming session that day.
Before the end of February, I had no problems with game malfunctions, nor with the addition of new official content for the game, and at least if I did, they were really minimal and located in the category of small bugs random issues that have affected some players since the release of this The Sims 4 game.
My problems arose after this famous update of 02/27/24, and since 03/06/24 there has been not only a permanent malfunction on the Crystal Creations kit in the game, but also the appearance of files lastexceptions, these listing errors involving personalized content according to you, while I carried out tests without any mod in game and also tested the game twice, each time creating a completely new game part with a newly created Sim to play on the world maps of the game itself, but it's true, an error on my part too, I was not really in vanilla mode for these two tests by starting again on newly created game parts. - crinrict2 years agoHero+
@LinetteMJ I just looked at your LE (need to read your post later) but that seems to be this issue: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-LE-SetAgeProgress/m-p/11709431#M226925
Not sure if it has anything to do with the problem at hand.I'll get back to you on that after dinner.EDIT: Do I understand you correctly that it works now on all saves ?
To clarify: Vanilla does simply means removing all thrid-party content you have. Saves and trays are usually fine to leave to test modless. Also exception files without the client data aren't uselss, it's just not possible to tell from them if a game is without mods or not.
If an issue persists, a clean folder approach is always best though, s if that helped you, that's great. - LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
Yes, it looks like this type of error on my saved game parts.
The game started without any problem, but as soon as I go to one or other of the world maps and then the residential land where I go begins to load, I immediately a lastexception file which is created in my user folder.
I have this happening since the last update to accommodate the Crystal Creations kit, and even more exception files which during my gaming sessions become heavier due to the effect of writing new ones error data noted by the game since the E-patch and the update that followed.
All residential lots and Sim homes in his residences, and on all world maps, are affected.
It's as if the game was having difficulty managing certain actions requested by us, as if there was a routing that was not able to flow properly in the reflection of the game itself at the moment, or at the moment. moment of a task to be carried out that we ask the selected Sim, or when we click on an interaction surface leading the Sim to carry out various tasks.
In all three cases, the game then thinks that an error has occurred and immediately lists the current error in the exceptions file that it has just created.
And finally, perhaps the gemmology worktable also suffered from this type of error, since it had never been able to be used at home since the addition of this kit to my game. is miraculously unlocked only today during my test in vanilla mode, and this will have made it also functional this work table at the level of my game saves that I used today for the need to test the game again. Game save test without mods then test with mods.
For me, the game launching a game in vanilla mode, with or without mods, does not create lastexception files. On the other hand, the game launching one of my game part saves will automatically create an exceptions file, and this:
- whatever the game save,
- whatever task you ask one of the Sims,
- or whatever the in-game movement of a Sim towards the residence of one of the other Sims households,
- or, at home, for the interactions requested on the work table for this crystal Creation kit.
For all these errors listed in my exception files, I actually see the indication cpp_message.py:107. - crinrict2 years agoHero+@LinetteMJ I suggest to post in that setage thread for the LE you're getting. This way they known it's still an issue. Think the thread didn't have any traffic in a while (if you haven't done so, I didn't check the bug forum yet)
- LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+
Yes on this subject the dates of last player interventions are 2022 and 2023.
I responded yesterday on this subject that you indicated to me in order to be able to compare the errors that were listed by my game, but I neglected to insert the link to be able to view the lastexceptions files recently provided here on this subject here.
I will insert the link right now 🙂
- LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+I have a question.Since the new latest update of the game which added a shopping cart icon to the game interface as well as the E-patch and the update which followed, there is a file named houseDescription-client.package which is newly present in the user folder. And at the same time perhaps some other files linked to this shopping cart on the interface would also be newly present in the game installation folders (but which I have not yet searched for at the moment).Could this package (and possibly other related files) influence the game, and thus cause these errors listed by the game over the last few days?I ask this question, because in fact each exception file that is created in the user folder, it is only when I click to go to the residential lot where I want to start playing with the Sims home which there are residents, and the same is also listed with new errors detected by the game and added in addition to the other errors already listed in the exceptions file when I want to visit another of my Sims households with my selected Sim.And it doesn't matter the world map where the residential land is located or the place where the selected Sim or the Sim I wish to join is present. These errors are listed in the exceptions file as soon as it concerns one of the residential lots or Sims played on one of my saved game parts. And like the game when it is launched from the game part, it is conditioned to take into account any package made available to it in the user folder as well as elsewhere all files present which are also necessary for the display and operation of the game during of each game session, I then wonder if with regard to my saved game parts there would not be a cause and effect link which would exist since the appearance of this new package, and possibly associated with other new linked files located in game installation folders.
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@LinetteMJ That file was introduced with the For Rent patch and is used to store some info on lots. It's a cache file so it will recreate if you delete it. Not sure if outdated info can accumulate there.
The setage LE predates FR so I don't think they are related. - LinetteMJ2 years agoHero+I only see this file, and I never saw it after applying the For Rent patch, it has only been present in my user folder for the last few days. Perhaps the game tests I have carried out over the last few days using newly created game parts will have caused this file to appear in the user folder. A bit like a correction for what had been missing for several months in this file.On the other hand, yes it is used to store information like for cache files, because as soon as I delete it at the same time as the localthumbcache.package file before restarting my game, it is recreated as soon as I launch the game.Okay, so you don't think it's related to any errors in the game over the last few days.Thank you for this additional information, I wish you a good evening Crinrict 🙌
So, out of all the looong text (Sorry i may skip some), is this being solve? as I also have this bug.
