Self cleaning litter tray issue

I've replaced my litter tray several times, had multiple litter trays, but my sims cat keeps getting uncomfortable and on the what's wrong interaction, says it wants a nice clean litter tray. The cat has run away for the third time and it's frustrating that the issue is it won't use its perfectly clean tray. I've moved the tray as well, the cat has jumped on it then not used it and avoided it since.
