Sims 4 CC/ please help me๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

Okay so i have a problem with my custom content, I am doing everything right from downloading it, put the file in electronic arts, the sims 4 file and then finally into mods and โ€œmake sure you have your mods enabled and itโ€™ll definitely show upโ€ they all tell me but even after all of that not all my stuff shows up. I have downloaded exactly 665 mods and like from a quick glance of view custom content it looks like only 20 stuff and than in closet it only looks like 10 stuff. No videos are helping because I am doing everything right itโ€™s just not all showing up. Please help me!!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ (oh and I am no computer genius but I donโ€™t think itโ€™s because of not having enough space I deleted a lot of unnecessary things and made sure I had a lot of space)

Never ever install that much CC at a time it makes it impossible for you to test properly. Remove all and delete the file localthumbcache.package.

Divide the CC up in batches of say 10 and install one batch and check that everything works. Repeat until you have tested all. Notice that having this much CC may cause your game to run slow or not at all depending on your computer and the particular CC. While testing if something doesn't show up go back to the site where you got it and read the instructions carefully.

You should be able to find the localthumbcache.package in your game folder, the same place you find your Mods folder. Its a package file not a folder. If you are using a Mac it should be similar to the attached image.

Removing Mods is simple enough, simply drag your mods folder into the trash or if you want to you can remove them one by one from the folder itself. You can also try removing half of your CC/Mods at a time (keep them in a separate folder) and run your game, if all the CC in that half shows up then switch to the other half of it. Keep halving and running your game until you can pinpoint which items are causing you problems. It will take awhile but it will ultimately allow you remove any problematic CC/Mods.

I would also check to see if you have all the meshes downloaded. Many times items don't show up in game because they are recolors and require you to download the original item for it to work. Another thing you might consider doing is removing the Mods you don't currently want to play with and keep them in a separate folder until you need them. I agree with @jpkarlsen though, having that many items in you mod folder will make it very difficult to troubleshoot/run your game.

One last thing, many Mods and CC items come in .zip or .rar files, make sure you expanded all of your files! It can be easy to overlook this simple step but your items won't show up if you don't expand them!

  • @jpkarlsen @mgm230 oh yeah yeah i see it, its deleted. perfect, so i did test a mod out and it showed up in game. I will continue to slowly put the mods in the folder and if some may not work I will most likely make another miraculous return. Thank you for your help, you guys are life savers.

My mods still wonโ€™t show up in game, i was advised to take it slow and that doing so it worked for like 1 minute than went right back to not working anymore. There is one thing: I downloaded something from a site and after the mod finished downloading the file said โ€œVirus detectedโ€ I didnโ€™t know what that was supposed to be telling me but I reset my laptop asap anyways. Once turned back on it ran smoothly like nothing ever happened. Other than that I seriously donโ€™t have a clue what I could be doing wrong. ๐Ÿค”

The virus message that you got came from your antivirus and means that what you thought was a piece of CC was in fact an executable file containing a virus. Luckily your antivirus caught it. If you have more files from the same site you should delete them to be sure you don't get a virus.

As I wrote earlier when a piece of CC does not show up in game go back to the site you got it from and read the instructions carefully including how to extract it is it came as a packed file (7z, zip or rar).
