I've found that ugly RNG makeup will sometimes be on each outfit but the stuff I set that actually flatters my Sim doesn't, which is annoying.
I can see how people who don't use CAS would find this useless, sure, but it would be a nice quality of life thing for people who use CAS a lot. I do, and it's less that I'm some fashionista--I'm totally not!--and more that every age up I feel like I'm being trolled. 😉
Age up to teen, boy:
Daily: A bag on his head, swim trunks, snow boots, eyeball ring.
Formal: Inevitably a sarong, no other formal clothing exists AFAIK, with every possible facial piercing, a durag, and the eyeball ring.
Active: A baggy sweater and snow boots. We can finally see his hair! it's graying.
Sleep: Weird mismatched clothes, glasses, the eyeball ring, sneakers. I'm vaguely surprised at this point that he's not wearing swim flippers.
Swim: a t-shirt, flippers (there they are!), a baseball cap, and a speedo, none of which match.
Party: A top hat, a sarong, a hockey shirt, and snow boots. Plus sunglasses.
Hot weather: a sarong, a mismatched t-shirt, an elf hat, the eyeball ring, 25 facial piercings and big floral earrings with mismatched socks and sandals.
Cold weather: A durag, snow boots, a sweater, every facial piercing possible, gloves.
Age up to toddler, girl:
Daily: A durag, shorts, mismatched shirt.
Formal: A durag, sarong, mismatched shirt.
Sleep: PJs, sunglasses, and a sun hat.
Swim: A diaper, a t-shirt
Party: A durag, shorts, mismatched shirt
Hot weather: Sunglasses, a durag, diaper, mismatched shirt.
Cold weather: Sunglasses, hat, mismatched shirt and pants (or Kenny from Southpark)
(While it's cool that toddlers can now wear durags, I don't think that every single toddler should RNG wearing a durag for every outfit. Thorne Bailey and Octavia Moon would absolutely dress their toddler in a durag and it would be adorable. I can't see Geoffrey and Nancy Landgraab doing the same.)
At this point I'd love an option for all age-ups to RNG a styled look instead.
I have pondered if there could be a "styled look lite", a system that has all clothes categorized into some style (which I think they are) and then attempts to generate NPC's wearing that same style as much as possible throughout the categories. Game generates island top first? Match that with island bottom and accessories. Child wears casual jeans? randomize them with a casual shirt, casual cold weather outfit and so on.
Also it would be really really nice if the game had some idea about how hair colour and texture work with skin colour... The amount of black dudes with cheese yellow straight hair is astonishing. Or well, perhaps it's just fashion?
