@Crayola4321 I love that your sims sound as chaotic as their pets! Lol. 😂 I agree with everything you said about pets. They make you feel guilty so easily. In my game the dogs always seem to want to be walked every hour 😂 Suffice to say in real life, I can vouch that's quite true as a dog owner. Now your archeologist sim can give his friend another pup to babysit. 😂 However him explaining the scenario of how he ended up with another pooch would be a long story. Thank you for sharing your experience on pets it's so accurate. (●ˇ∀ˇ●)
@Mrs_K_Desormeaux I have a dog rescue in the Gallery, I think it's called Brindleton Bay Dog Rescue.
If you want to make your own and haven't tried it, here's how I get it to work.
First I added stable like buildings to the Hounds Head lot and filled them with pet beds, toy boxes and auto pet feeders with a large dog training area next to it with the ramps, tunnels, etc. I made the house a bit smaller (console controls are having technical problems right now so I couldn't demolish it and start again). I made a small vet's office next to the stables. I left the outside all open for anyone but locked personal living spaces for Household Members only, like bedrooms. I did the same with part of the garden and added pet toys and loungers so household pets could get privacy behind a locked gated section. I locked bathrooms for dogs so they didn't all walk in and drink from the loo, because ick! I added a bath for dogs next to the vet's office, to bath new arrivals and strays.
I trained my Sim up to a high vet skill and visited the local vet's to buy a load of the Wellness treats, etc from their vending machine because it takes ages to make them, I added them to her own vending machine back at the rescue.
I set it as Dog Hangout lot trait and strays began to arrive. My Sim got really busy feeding them and adopting some. I then added some to her friends and family via Manage Worlds, then splitting pets from her household and adding them to others to re-home. I'd already made a ranch for her parents ready for dogs to move in and added extra bowls to her friends homes.
Her lot is open to my other Sims so I can visit with a different household and see if any strays are there to adopt.
I did run into a bug where the dogs weren't always eating from the bowls even though that usually works fine. I also needed robot vacs everywhere and set her reward traits to Steel Bladder, Seldom Sleepy, Carefree, Hardly Hungry. Her personality Traits are Dog Lover, Cheerful, Goofball (to try and ward off negative moodlets).
So that's how I get it to work because the strays really bother me as a pet owner. I do the same with a cat rescue.

@simsplayer818 How creative.❤ I never thought of that idea, making a actual household dedicated to rescuing animals with a residential lot also moonlighting as a rescue shelter. I'll totally have to try that out! I'll just have to chose a sim with a lot of patience and a animal lover. I love the idea of sims having a day out to adopt a dog. A really amazing idea! It also makes the game more engaging. totally implementing that into my save. 😊❤

Outdoor retreat. Literally never used it. Just needed a game pack for a bundle. I can't make a comment on the content. I just never use anything from it/forget I have it.
- @SianAF148 Its a fun one if you like collector Sims. I spend the max time there on vacation but my Sims are often self employed by fishing, gardening or collecting to sell in retail lots or from inventories like with frog breeding. I like all the little hidden things like the various bugs depending on the time of day or night. I also like that the herbal remedies you make there can also be essential for the Jungle. The insect repellant you can make is literally a life saver lol.
It's got some lovely scenery too with the waterfalls and the secret Hermit's Cottage. My only issue with it is that the plants are a massive part of it and for me they are bugged. I currently can't harvest some of them, they hover in the air which is beyond annoying. - @simsplayer818 Sorry that the plants are bugged for you ☹️ I hope the issues with consoles are fixed quickly!
I did not know the herbal remedies worked in the jungle! Wow! Maybe they work in Snowy Escape too? I have to check it out! I love Granite Falls. I usually send my sims hiking or jogging and zoom in so I can see everything from their point of view. Outdoor Retreat is another essential pack for me, because the build mode stuff can be placed anywhere. Sometimes I just don't have the patience to build a starter house, so I start my sims on an empty lot and buy some camping supplies in build mode, and then just travel through the worlds with them. I probably play this way too much. I've been thinking about building a camping store so I don't have to go into build mode to get the stuff they need. - gooochyeee3 years agoSeasoned Ace@simsplayer818 My biggest issue with OR is that if you have laptop mode on the bugs you need to collect are invisable so I gave up with the herbalism as its not worth turining laptop mode off for
@Crayola4321 a camping store is really useful. I added all of the remedies that can be made, plus the jungle ones that aren't always available. The only things you can't sell are Faraday Fizz and the energy drink I forget the name of, in a green can. I don't think you can sell the grilled cheese either. I Iined the walls with herbal and jungle remedies and added death flowers and the jungle flowers. I put a Snowy Escape vending machine in there too. The remedies don't work in Snowy Escape, at least for me they don't. I have to use the Snowy Escape ones in that world, it really clutters up their inventory.
I like to pack camping gear in my Sims inventory and travel around everywhere with them, especially if they are collectors.
@gooochyeee what an annoying bug for you. I hope they address that, it's such an important part of the pack.
- gooochyeee3 years agoSeasoned Ace@simsplayer818 It makes it impossible to use, it seems to be the same issue as the frogs and fish being invisable with laptop mode
Discover University, mostly because the roommate system annoys me constantly
