It switches to Custom, but is still all ultra settings, and you can still uncheck the post processing effect. I keep that one unchecked, and compressed sim textures checked and still have all my other settings completely maxed out just fine. So, if it won't let you uncheck that with your settings maxed, you might want to start troubleshooting. "Bubbz3388;c-16912348" wrote:
Laptops are a huge no no for gaming
It depends from the game though and Sims 4 is highly optimized. Otherwise agree. The only reason to have laptop is mobility.- Simburian6 years agoNew TravelerThe next laptop I buy will have to have the largest SSD drive that I can buy. The difference in speed of Sims 4 startup I found far superior to the normal HD. It's just the prices of them put me off buying yet.
My HP i7 Omen gaming laptop, 17" (NVidia 1060) and a year old still runs on Ultra if I want it to, though I change the in-game Options to high or medium to my liking as I need this machine to last a few years yet. I can easily move it around, though heavy but I don't need it for travelling.
I found a small HP 14" with a NVidia 130 and 225 SSD card that I could carry when travelling played Sims 4 too but I don't push it too far! "TheHarbinger_51;c-16914081" wrote:
@CABAL except I also played far cry, resident evil 7 and other new demanding titles on highest settings also on my gaming laptop. It's just not true that gaming laptops aren't good for gaming. Mine never even gets warm.
The flaw of gaming laptop is its high price, laptop can be as good as desktop for games, but equivalent desktop is much cheaper option. Another problem (unless you're not buying pre-builts) is cleaning it or replacing parts which is more challenging compared to doing it with desktop, but it depends from the model and your competence, anyway finding good laptop parts ain't easy unfortunately.
Though the worst laptops are the ones where you can't install different OS or make dualboot (unless you try to use some workarounds which aren't guarantee to fix the problem), really can't stand Windows 8.1 and 10 and some companies like Lenovo are forcing Windows 10 without ability to replace it last time I checked. That and price (the biggest factor to me since in Japan both laptops and desktop cost a lot) are my only problems with gaming laptops, though I might replace my laptop for work by something much more powerful at some point due to my work.- icemanfresh6 years agoSeasoned Newcomer

I have tried to purchase good but fairly priced PC's and laptops in the past to run sims. I never found one that worked for me until I upped my budget. For the last 3 or 4 years I have been running sims on my Alienware M15 laptop. I recently upgraded to a new 1tb SSD. NEVER, and I mean NEVER have I fully experienced the game till I upgraded. I have every EP, GP and SP, I run it with all the graphics on very high setting, and have mods and cc. Not to mention I have a ton of other games that are probably just as had to run (ex: fallout 4, assassins creed origins, and gta5.. etc.) The graphics alone are breathtaking, not to mention the game is sooooo smooth, and I have virtually no loading time. If you can afford to wait a little while and save a little more, I definitely recommend getting as much power as you can. You will be extremely satisfied. (I know I am).
I ordered a gaming computer.
Intel core I7-7700, Gtx 1060, 16Gb ram, 1tb hdd with a 258 SD SOMETHING I FORGOT
Sorry I didn't reply to your comment before, because the thread must've left the front page at some point. :D This one is actually pretty decent across the board. It can play even more intensive games, so you should be good. :) "icmnfrsh;c-16914301" wrote:

Some gaming laptops still demand an high price but not all especially if you do not mind investing in an not too old and less than two years old gaming laptop. It all depends on who makes the gaming laptop and where you buy it from. I can get gaming laptops off of Newegg and Amazon for $799.99 and higher but again these are not new models and I brought one and it is fast and plays all even today games very well and for me I do not game on laptops mainly on desktops so playing in ultra is not an factor as long as I can play on an mixture of ultra and high. However, one still have to do thier homework when buying these gaming laptops and get something that will work for one as like general purpose laptops they share the same caveat of being good for the time period. - I cant start a new thread bc I'm new. But I'm wanting a desktop to play Sims 4. I think I have found one. My brain hurts from all the info and the dos and donts. Can anyone tell me if this computer
Acer Aspire C24-865-ACi5NT AIO Desktop, 23.8" Full HD, 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U, 12GB DDR4, 1TB HDD, 802.11ac WiFi, Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, Windows 10 Home
Will work? I found it on Amazon, great price, I can do monthly payments. And from what I, a simpleton, can tell, it will work. I want to make 100% sure. And is this something I can upgrade in the future if I want better graphics, etc?
