- I don't considered opt in nerfed or deserving of it. You don't nerf the electricity in your houses by installing controls to it, just when you actually limit it directly.
But, yeah, it certainly doesn't deserve one as of yet. Not only do you have to change the lot type, but click through the tutorial warnings. Nothing can help people that choose to play it when they hate it and still complain. "friendlysimmers;c-17784299" wrote:

But aren't you happy with having the option to not use the haunted house lot? If you're buying it only for bb and cas why would you need to use that specific lot type? If you decide to use it, then the supernatural content is not being imposed to you..."friendlysimmers;c-17784299" wrote:

This post must have gone up while I was typing earlier so I did not see it. Someone already beat me to the punch, but absolutely nothing is imposed on you because it is opt in through the lot type. You will have to either directly place a haunted house or change a lot to a haunted house. Then go through the tutorial pop ups.
There is no new occult lifestate added like vampires or spellcasters. Spectors are best compared to a less rare SE spirit from what I can tell. They are NPCs that do their own thing with a few interactions.
Only you can decide if the CAS and BB is worth your $10, but I have to question why you would buy a pack knowing you hate most of it and hoping that the people that do like it get it taken away from them because you wanted $10 cosmetics (and I say cosmetics because if you hate the gameplay and the spectors, why are you using the seance table?). Even more so when it already has an opt in element.- LoanetRising Scout

Almost every part of the pack is opt-in or opt-out. You don't HAVE to learn to be a Medium. Not do you HAVE to live in a haunted house or do you HAVE to take a freelance job. In fact it looks pretty easy from the start unless you go to the effort of creating a scary house. - JanuaryGarnet08New SpectatorThey better not. They put in multiple “toggles” for the dollhouse crowd.
- Haunted houses are a lot type - so you can have all the furniture and the clothes and if you don’t set the lot type you won’t have the hauntings.
- The hand statue - turns off Guidry visits, or ramps up hauntings, your choice.
- The seance table - has an option to lower haunting activity.
- The black flame candles - control fear levels.
- The brave trait in the reward store also helps control fear.
These are just the ones I can remember right now as I haven’t finished my coffee yet. But even with these there should be NO reason to be nerfing any activity."GrumpyGlowfish;c-17784131" wrote:
Yeah, I can't imagine it in this case either. Other features that people have complained about for being too intrusive, such as alien abductions and vampires breaking in, were things that just happened, whether you wanted them to or not. But this pack's ghost business is something you have to actively seek out, either by becoming a paranormal investigator or living in a haunted house, and even if you do the latter and it becomes too much to handle, I'm sure you can just go into BB and change it to a normal residential lot.
All in all, this seems like the kind of pack that you can perfectly just buy for the CAS and furniture (or Bonehilda) without having to worry about the gameplay features getting in the way. Doesn't mean there won't be a lot of bugs at launch that will need fixing, though, so better prepare for that...
Actually you could prevent alien abductions with the satellite and vampire visits with the garlic. But nobody could be bothered so, they nerfed them. - Haunted houses are a lot type - so you can have all the furniture and the clothes and if you don’t set the lot type you won’t have the hauntings.

even if a lot would have that trait i would change it if my sim moved in such a lot as a player just do not fit with my playstyle
It was already explained to death but here it goes:
- when you first add the pack it will ask you IF you want to add the new house with this specific lot type. If you don't want to add it to your game you just have to answer no.
- the lot type won't show up in any other house unless YOU decide to put it there."EgonVM;c-17784602" wrote:
I'm sorry, could you explain what nerfing here means? Is it lowering chances?
It probably is being used more in the sense of gutting or destroying the feature, honestly. You cannot really lower the chances of having a haunted house if you have to opt in to the lot type. In general I interpret nerfed as weakened, but if you like a feature that was then weakened you could very well consider it destroyed.
For example, with vampire break ins, they just don't happen for me anymore. Once in a blue moon Vlad will show up, but he disappears as quickly as he came with not a single sim noticing. I don't even get his welcome to the neighborhood calls anymore. Even without being a huge fan of that feature, that nerf certainly broke it in my opinion.- JanuaryGarnet08New Spectator

Yes, it’s when they lower the number of chances you will experience an action or activity in your game. Unfortunately when it happens it almost invariably lowers the number to almost zero. - LoanetRising ScoutWe've been told that houses grow gradually more haunted over time. But you can also commune with the spirits to keep it low. I'll put money on people saying it gets too much too fast though.
You can turn the haunted lot trait off, and also I think Haunted Lots have special traits, so if you're finding their traits are too heavy for you, change the traits.
These are the same people who voted for Laundry and then wanted it nerfing. I've tried laundry but my Sims are just too stupid to be able to handle laundry AND a job. But if you don't have washing machines, you don't get dirty laundry, so much for realism. - Sara1010pRising RookieThere should be no need to nerf it. The only way to experience the haunting is to set the lot type to haunted house, which if you do, then it's your own fault. You can use every item from build/buy and CAS without ever seeing the paranormal aspect of this pack, so there should be no reason for any complaints. If anyone does complain, then they are doing it just to be complaining.
