NOBLE CAREER
This career works similarly to the other Work from Home (WFH) careers, but with a few changes. Shifts run for 24 hours and reset at 7 am each day.
Joining the Noble Career
Random Sims cannot join this career without player actions. However, they can be removed on death as Sims lose their jobs when they die, be persuaded to leave it via the normal Neighborhood Stories methods, via usurpation within their own Dynasty, retirement when they pass the torch to the next Heir, or by extortion via the Scandals system in this pack.
You can't just join this career from the Phone, but need an object or action to be purchased/completed first:
Throne (2,500/3,300) - Some of the Noble Duties (like replying to Noble Mail and Holding Court) require one. You can join the career by clicking on the Throne. Once you have joined, you can put it in storage until you need it though. If you don't want to start out with a Throne (it's a bit silly for a mere Knight) you could...
Research Noble Legacy - I haven't found out how to do this one yet, but I suspect it requires having a Noble Ancestor, so probably not a starting option to begin with anyway. So as a Commoner, your final option is to...
Request a Knighthood from a Noble - As a Noble at level 4 or above, Sims have the ability to grant Knighthoods to others, including NPCs. Monarchs (level 10) have the ability to grant Sims any title below their own. As a Commoner, you can Request a Knighthood. This will put you in the Noble Career at level 1 - Knight, by default.
(Note - Joining the Noble Career by any method will remove you from any other Career, so only do this on the Sim you want other family member to inherit their titles from. Spouses inherit an equal title and Children a lesser one, normally Lord/Lady).
Noble Career Gameplay
The default work day is Work From Home. Your main bulk of pay is via a daily stipend. You get this on completion of your two Noble Duties each day, or when the day resets if you don't complete them both. Some terms related to the Career:
Favor Alignment - There are pros and cons to each side, but no right or wrong here. Both have different benefits, such as certain Powershifts requiring specific Favor Alignment or helping discover Nobles secrets when you have the same Alignment. It also adds flavour when playing as a Noble (e.g. the wording of Noble Mail letters or the contents of gifts sent to you). It may contribute to how NPCs interact with your played Sim. This also has a lot of roleplay/storytelling potential as a way to decide who a coup is started by, if/when you fancy a change of Monarch - Did another Noble scheme and rally support to dethrone/demote you, or was it a revolt of the downtrodden masses? You decide.
Noble Advisor - Heavy is the head that bears the crown, so every Noble needs a trusted advisor as a sounding board. You can assign any known (but ideally trustworthy) Sim to this role via a social interaction by clicking on them > Relationships > Ask to be Noble Advisor. You can also choose via a Sim-Picker when starting a Press Conference or when you Hold Court. If you don't have a Noble Advisor picked yet, this can be one of the Noble Duties you are assigned, so you might want to wait until it shows up for an easier/faster day of duties. You could also consider this an honorary position for your Best Friend, your Spouse, your parent, a close family friend, a local Politician (to tie in a parliament/elected council), or maybe even collaborate with an Occult representative of your choice (E.G. Merlin to King Arthur or Fairy Godmother to Cinderella) etc. There's a lot of room for roleplay/storytelling with this role. You may also be given a Noble Duty to start a Press Conference or Hold Court, both of which require you to assign a Noble Advisor at the start due to having associated Event Tasks.
Noble Duties - Like Work Assignments, give a small pay-out (50 Simoleons, base pay) as you complete them, and give you your day's stipend early if you finish them both.
Noble Venture - This is a Phone (Business), Thone or self-interaction to go to a rabbithole event/"workplace" event that grants a small amount of XP to your Favor Alignment. The place you choose decides whether this goes towards Commoner or Royal Alignment.
Career Progression & Pay (WIP)
The best way to progress is to complete both of your Noble Duties each day, go on a Noble Venture each day even if it's not one of your duties (limited to one per day), and buy (and/or earn) any appropriate Reward Traits and/or Dynasty Perks. Career Progression (promotion speed) and pay (both Daily Stipend and Royal Duty pay-out) can be increased via certain Reward Traits.
Below are the levels, job titles, default noble/spouse titles (M/F/NB), default inherited titles for offspring (M/F/NB), and daily pay details:
L1 - Noble Newcomer - Knight/Dame/Knightum - Lord/Lady/Laird - $100 for Noble Duties + $672/day base pay.
L2 - Honorable Herald - Baronet/Baroness/Baronum - Lord/Lady/Laird- $100 for Noble Duties + $816/day base pay.
... (WIP)
L9 - Respected Regent - Grand Duke/Grand Duchess/Grand Duchum - Lord/Lady/Laird -
L10 - Kingdom Leader - King/Queen/Monarch - Prince/Princess/Princem -
Working Nobles (Sims with both a Title & a Career)
As an unmarried Sim without a Noble parent you can only be in the Noble Career, the direct route to a Title, which means you cannot have a second Career. You could still have a money-making occupation (running a Small Business or Painting, for example), just no conventional Career from the Phone/Computer "Find a Job" list.
If you want a job AND a Title, you need to inherit the Title and join a Career, but not necessarily in that order. Inherited Titles can be achieved via:
Parentage - Be the Child of a Noble. Have your parent join the Noble career. if they are deceased have their Ghost join. If you don't have a parent, make one via genetics in CAS, or Ask to be Adopted by an older Sim you admire and have them join the Noble career if they aren't already in it. You become Noble by Parentage once they are Noble.
Marriage - Your existing Spouse can join the career (they will lose their current job, if any), you can marry a premade/played/ex-played Noble Sim (in career or by inheritance from parent in career). If you are currently married and in the Noble career, but want to switch jobs you can Promise to Inherit to your Spouse, and then Abdicate, making them the base Noble everyone else inherits from. You get the title by inheritance and can continue in your current line of work. You could also Promise to Inherit to a Teen+ child of yours, but would lose Noble status once they inherit if you do this (Inheritance is only for Spouses and kids, not parents, siblings or extended family).
Nobles by inheritance (be it by Parentage or Marriage) have no Noble Duties of their own as these are tied to the Noble Career. However, if you wish, household Sims with inherited nobility can help out the main Noble (Noble Career Sim) in their Noble Duties during work events such as Hold Court etc, but can't start the work event themselves.
(Note - A good premade example of how this could work is in the Monty family/Dynasty. Though Julliette married into the Dynasty, she is the Head of it. Romeo is a Chef, likes his job and is content with being a Commoner, so it makes sense that he's given over all the family/Dynasty duties to his wife. If Julliette wants her Noble title back (and she does), then she should be the one to join the Noble career. By doing so, her husband Romeo and son Dante are also raised to nobility via the built in inheritance system.)
Thrones
The pack comes with two premade Thrones: One Queen Anne/Regal (Regency) themed one and a second carved wooden throne that matches the African set in this pack and the older set from Life & Death with the spiral carvings, as well as other Medieval-ish furniture.
The Get Famous prop throne does not work as a Throne, but if you size it down once, place it in a basement/lower floor and raise it up then you can hide the wooden throne in it with just the front of the seat cushion available to click. The red is a bit different, but it's close enough and it works if you don't want CC thrones.
