I admit, I usually make my Sims' lives pretty boring. They're always kind of perfect. So I decided to spice things up and add a little drama. For no reason at all, I had the husband cheat on the wife with their neighbor. He got her pregnant, and wife walked in on them woohooing. They got a divorce and husband now lives w/ neighbor. I thought it would be interesting to see if they could reconcile because I saw there were new interactions between the two, like "remember common interests" and "find a common ground" and stuff. But my Sims were having NONE OF IT. Mannnnn do they hate each other. There's no going back. Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if everything is just too fresh right now and that's why every interaction turns out to be a negative one. Over time will all the angry redness disappear from their relationship bars and they could start from scratch?

Yep, it was in both TS2 and TS3. Only in TS2 whoever called it quits is the one who ended up leaving (if I remember right, because that drove me crazy). After I moved her ex-husband out she was no longer sad, which was great. I got her into an energized mood, and she headed to the gym where she dropped those pesky baby pounds she gained. She's now looking great and looking for a new love interest who will appreciate her and her children.

I'm guessing you play with 5+ sims in your house lol. I'm always trying to keep it at 1-3 tops lol. I don't imagine 3 sims is enough for a healthy dose of drama lol.

It depends on what three sims, you could always do a love triangle and try not to get caught, that's fun. I try to keep my households to 5 max. Right now I'm having one my sim's teenage daughters date an older sim, and that will hopefully lead to more drama.

I've done that, but giving an honest effort for my sims to keep their 'other' love affairs a secrete as anyone would, I got bored with the work myself lol. You know, for some reason drama was mentioned and I was thinking sims who hate and are constantly getting into fights with each other LOL. The topic being about two sims not willing to get along and all lol :D
I don't have that though, but might be something for me to try some time, a house full of royal rumbles LOL. Sims get home from work, and I can hear in my head "Let's get ready to rum-ble!" lol.

Haha, now they suddenly started flirting by themselves and are now lovers! The free Will is on full so they just started flirting.. yaaay

I know this might be a bit off topic, but have you ever noticed with SOME sims to get them interested in each other (even if neither is involved) some just take ALOT of work to get together. I mean, it gets to the point I have to reverse the roles of who's doing the flirting cause even when both are in a flirty mood, one sims seems to want none of it!
And some sims are quick to jump into the romance.
I made two sims and intentionally gave them three traits that were all contrary but to my complete shock they were all for the romance... I was sure this would trigger the 'repulsion' some sims have. So it's hard to say WHY some are repulsed by certain other sims.

Yeah.. sometimes they get flirty at once and wanna jump in bed, and other times they just walk away and do other stuff :-P i once had this friend who came over all the time and flirted with the husband. Making the wife jealous and sad. The family had to move to another world to get rid of her.. haha
that 's part of what makes this game so much fun and addictive. I have been playing all weekend just to get them back together. And now they're engaged and everything going well. Yaay!

I don't mean them walking away, but rejecting the attempt at flirting, even rejecting (with laughter) the Seduce interaction!

Working on the charisma helps ("smooth talk") and just keeping them separate for awhile to talk helps a lot. And as others said, Beguile trait reward as well.

I don't think they can reconcile, my alien sim accidently broke up and then ersased her mind, she still remembered and hated him!

I love adding drama too! Especially in rotational saves where the active sim might cheat on the spouse.

This thread has inspired me to have my sim cheat on their spouse tonight lol. I've always tried to create the perfect family, but I'm so bored with that & I wanna try something new.

Its a lot of fun, IMO, trying to get them to reconcile because the relationship is harder after they cheat. I do wish that they would bring back alimony and child support from TS2 and the self-help books from TS3. If they'd bring back the awareness of cheating from TS3, that would be the icing on the cake. I miss other sims being able to expose a cheating sim.
