I wonder if there will be a way to keep people in the waiting room until it is their turn or if they will be wondering in and out of exam/surgery rooms? Perhaps a new way to lock doors? You can't lock them at all at current or you cannot treat the pets. I really don't want customers randomly wandering into exam rooms like they would restaurant kitchens unless you locked door for everyone but employees.I think I'll try to run a clinic out the back of my sims house. Just a small one and then as it grows it will expand.

Doors can be locked for only household + employee Sims on retail/restaurant already. This setup may pose an issue for Sims needing to enter that space for treatment though.

I'm hoping a check-in room will deal with the overpopulation of the waiting room, if the time comes to that. My biggest problem with the Dine Out GP was the "musical chairs". My Sims kept standing up, then sitting down, then standing up all over again. It was repetitive and annoying. Will the Vet Clinic be better concerning this problem? Fingers crossed that they'll have improved the waiting times, the core and interactions of the employers/employees system and the variety of actions our Sims can engage into.

Perhaps, but the clinic format is more like restaurants from Dine Out than hospitals in GTW. I think people are still having issues with restaurants(musical chairs & such) over a year later. I'm not worried about overpopulation. Even if there is just one or two people in the waiting room they might still decide to walk back into the exam rooms to hold a conversation with someone. I just want some way to keep them all in the waiting room until it is their turn.

Hopefully your questions/concerns will be answered tomorrow in the live stream,since it will be all about the vet clinic :)

There was some leaked footage that came out around the time that the Create A Pet footage was released that showed the vet career...from what I remember (I only got to watch it once before it was taken down) the owners of the pets seemed to stay in the waiting room area but I think the pets wondered around a bit? But that also wasn't the final version of the game either.

If it ends up being an issue where pets/Sims are wandering around the clinic,I guess technically you could work around it by locking the door for employees/household and then unlocking it when you have to go get another patient. But we won't really know if it will be an issue until we see some the live stream/get the pack ourselves.

So from what I saw on the live stream it seems sims & pets will just ~~wondering~~ wandering wherever, even into exam rooms when they should be in the waiting room. That is disappointing.
Also concerning is that our pets are suppose to/will get sick every few sims days. The only way to stop this and keep them healthy is to take them to the Vet or go to the Vet and buy treats to keep them healthy. So Vet or Vet or Vet. Money, Money, and Money. It seems pets might be for wealthier sims as the Vet trips looked expensive.
I really don't want vet visits and sick pets to be the focus of all my pets game play.

While I am slightly concerned about pets getting sick “every few days” I think it is realistic to a degree that vets are expensive because they are in real life. I’m a dog breeder in real life and vet bills are frequent when you consider worming/flea and other preventative measures cost to keep our dogs and cat free from nasty things. The amount we pay to the vet for our current litter for health checks, worming etc not to mention the c section our female needed is eye watering.. but necessary. So actually I’m glad that vets aren’t dirt cheap or free in the game because that’s not a reflection on real life.
