MzBlueInTenze It's very helpful to know that this affects all households. The August patch broke many, many script mods, with this being the symptom, and these are still the ones most likely to be your problem. Use the Previously Broken mods and CC for many (not all!) mods that have no updates. Use “Updated” in the Broken/Updated Mods list for patch 1.117, but note many are not yet updated or cleared in the current list.
I'm not moving you into the pinned thread for this issue because you have a report that suggests you might have causes that aren't script mods as well. But start with those!
CC and Mods should all be missing when you rename the folder! You were just testing what happened if the game can't see any of them. It only sees the folder if it has the original name. See How to Use Mods and CC . If you saved without mods/CC installed, you can reload an earlier version of your save after you finish testing. While testing don't save. Or do all your testing in a new test save, not the one you play.
