How do I free space on my Macintosh HD after moving mods to external hard drive?

Hello! I am on a 2020 MacBook Air & I am trying to free space on my Macintosh HD. I am currently using 141.57 GB in my documents' folder, which is mostly mods. Furthermore, I decided to purchase an external hard drive that has 1 TB of space on it. I have also followed the steps of this website to run my Sims 4 Folder onto an external hard drive (https://bluebellflora.com/saving-your-sims-4-folder-to-an-external-drive/). I believe I did everything correctly. Not only that, but I even installed the Sims 4 onto the external hard drive. My game runs perfectly fine, however, none of the space is being freed on my Macintosh HD. Please help.

Can you post a screenshot showing the Sims 4 alias folder in your Documents > Electronic Arts folder after you created the symlink? It sounds like it hasn't properly worked.
