@Bluebellflor I did the steps over twice and the second time the game installed itself because it said it may be broken. Now the game launches, but all my game content is still gone.

Halfway there...! Is this in your usual Mac user account or a new one?
Your saves and other user content is in your Sims 4 folder that you moved to the desktop. You should move over your saves into the newly created Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves folder to see if they can load. Don't move the saves folder itself, just one save file. Save files are named Slot_00000003.save and similar. Do NOT move one named Slot_00000001.save, move one ending in a different number or letter.
