[MAC] Sims 4 won’t launch after latest update – EA App minimises and reopens

I’m on Mac (details below) and since the most recent Sims 4 update, the game will not launch at all. When I press “Play” in the EA App, the Sims 4 game opens briefly then minimises again, but the Sims 4 itself never launches. There’s no error message — it just loops back to the EA App.

I’m fully up to date with both macOS and the EA App, and I have multiple packs installed. I’ve tried restarting my Mac, repairing the game in the EA App, clearing cache, creating a fresh Sims 4 folder in Documents, and even uninstalling/reinstalling the EA App. Nothing has fixed the problem.

This bug occurs every single time I try to play. Before the update, the game launched normally with no issues.

I play without mods/CC, and the issue persists regardless. I’ve also seen other Mac users reporting the same thing in the forums since the August/September 2025 update, so it seems widespread. Could you please confirm if this bug is being tracked and whether a fix is planned in the next patch?

macOS Monterey

Version 12,6,2

MacBook Air (13-inch, 2012)

Processor: 18 Giz Dual-Core Intel Core 15

Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB

Serial Number. FVFVH1HDJ1WK

There are some discrepancies in the information you have provided. You state you have a 13" 2012 model MacBook Air running macOS 12.6.2 Monterey however your model Mac is only supported up to 10.15 Catalina.

There is no such thing as an "18Giz dual core Intel Core 15". I think you mean 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5?

The 2012 model MacBook Air came with an Intel HD4000 graphic chip, not 6000.

Please do not post your serial number.

It would be easier if you just posted a screenshot from About This Mac to confirm the model you have.

HiBluebellflora - I copied & pasted the data exactly from my Mac - here’s the screenshot.

Sorry if my post somehow offended you, I’m not great with technology. I’m doing my best to get some help and support, and your response felt a little passive aggressive if I’m honest. The Sims community is about love and positivity, please let’s try to keep it that way.

Your Mac is a 2017 MacBook Air, not 2012 which now makes the other details you provided make sense. Providing the correct information is really important when trying to help and troubleshoot.

You’re not running the latest version of macOS. If you want to stay on Monterey and not upgrade to a later version of macOS you should at least update to 12.7.6 which was released in July last year.

You state you have tried a completely clean Sims 4 folder and repaired your game, and that you have never used Mods. If that is the case maybe the issue is on your Mac. I strongly suggest you update macOS and see if that helps. If not come back and we can maybe try other options.
