Move SIMS4 from Mac to External hard drive

Hello

I have SIMS 4 and packs but my MacBook Pro 13 (2017) does not have any more room for me to download anything. Can I move my SIMS game to an external hard drive and continue playing?

Thankyou

Trash the base game and Sims 4 Packs folder on the Mac, change the installation location in Origin/EA App, then re-download it. Purchased content is tied to the EA account, not where it is installed.

Yes. Plug the drive in and change the installation location in Origin or EA App, whichever one you're using, to the external drive. Then re-download the base game and DLC.

Thankyou for your response! The game is already installed on the Mac machine. Can I reinstall it? Will I have to uninstall it first from the machine and then reinstall it?

it’s my daughter’s favorite game and she has purchased additional packs also over the last couple or years so I want to make sure I don’t mess up anything.

Thank you again.  Really appreciate the advice. I am a total newbie at this. :-(

Ok! Got it. Will give it a shot...sorry another newbie question. Will she loose all the families etc that she has created if I reinstall it? I am assuming all that info might be saved on her hard drive or is that too tied to her account?

    Thanks again

All the user data is stored in the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, completely separate from the game installation 🙂
