I had it installed to my external hard drive so the icon I would click to play from there is gone. So it’s not in my Applications folder either
However its still appearing in my library in Origin, but when I click on that it says “Game Details” no option shows up to install anything at all.
Please run the Origin reset tool and see if that fixes the issue.
I followed the origin reset tool steps, reinstalled origin back on. All of the games in my library were wiped.
I tried to reinstall The Sims 4 again but now its asking me for a product code, where it was no where to be seen on my order confirmation email. I used the chat now service with EA Help, the person who helped me was very nice and resent me the code for my reference by email.
Once I had ended the chat though and went to use the code it's now popping up the message that "the code has already been redeemed"... therefore not letting me activate the game.
I went to go back to use the Chat Now service again but they're now closed
Thank you for your help but I don't know what else to do at this point...
- @Bluebellflora Also I don't understand why origin.com registers that I have the game but you still need to redeem the code onto origin client, why can't it just recognise that you have bought it without having to do this? It's really frustrating
- @SimsplyObsessed
Are you definitely logged into Origin using the account you originally purchased the game through, or registered the code in? Is it possible you have another EA/Origin account? I used the searched in Origin for your user name, SimsplyObsessed, and can see you have Sims 4.
Which version of macOS are you running? There is currently an issue with Yosemite properly connecting in Origin - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Mac-Origin-Connection-and-Library-Issues/td-p/7989503
Also check the filters in your games library in the Origin client (top right corner in the window) and make sure you don't have only PC games selected. - @Bluebellflora I only have the one account, the version of MacOS I'm using is OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5
Omg I think I fixed the issue... I installed origin as a legacy version mentioned in that forum, it's currently downloading sims 4 as we speak... we might have a break through here!
i brought sims 4 laundry day stuff on origin and its not coming up in my library or in game i have the conformation and receipt i have waited 6 hours and still have gotten nothing.
I have also tried repairing the game however this does not want to work it comes up with error and check your internet connection however I have tried this with 3 different internet connections. I have tried re-downloading origin and this does not work.
yes I am on Yosemite
Im not using any mods or cc

Thanks. I've merged your posts into this one as it is a known issue for Yosemite players. You can either update your version of macOS or install the Origin legacy client to fix the issue. Link to the legacy version and instructions in the opening post on page 1 🙂 When the big update came to sims 4 recently, origin would tell me that it is unable to download and I must check my internet connection and try later, even when I had fast working internet. I have reinstalled the game multiple times and even deleted my sims 4 folder to make sure that was not the problem and it still will not download. this is bogus, I have spent so much money to play this game I have no idea what to do!!
I'm having the exact same problem!! Can anybody help??
im running Yosemite 10.10.5 and the update where the look of the game changed. I found a different post that mentioned to download an older version of origin and it is downloading my games. Many other people are having the same issue i am having so hopefully this is a temporary fix until the updated origin is fixed!
@gblwn
Yes, it should work 🙂 Merged your post into this stickied thread on the Yosemite/Origin issue.- verobl246 years agoSeasoned Newcomer
Hi guys,
I've had the same problems (running on yosemite 10.10.5 and not being able to dowload the game even if it was all fine before). I dowloaded Origin Legacy, deleted all my old files, Reset Origin, dowloaded the Sims 4 finally. However, it's unable to launch (icon boucing forever or black screen). I'm just so tired, it's been more than a month that I try to fix this. Anyone has any idea what to do next...? I'm repairing the game for the X time right now... Thanks 🙂

@Bluebellflora it finally worked! thank you anyway 🙂
Hi all,
I had gone to a gaming shop to buy the 'Sims 4 Get Famous Expansion Pack'. I went home to install it on my MAC through origin and it worked normally, but I noticed that the download bar never came up. Whenever I look in my expansion packs for sims 4 in origin it comes up with the buy button, but when I click it, it says that I've already bought the game. When I play the sims 4, the menu says I don't have the expansion packs, but my other expansion packs are there. I've tried to enter the product code to install it again on origin, but it says that I've already redeemed this product. I've deleted and downloaded origin again, I've logged in and back out of my account and I've searched everywhere for answers, but nothing has solved my problem. Any help would be lovely, because it is stressing me out and I really wanted to play this expansion pack.
Thankyou.
Please run the Origin reset tool then try again.
- @Bluebellflora I've done this and I'm 99% sure it worked so thankyou, but now since I have reset it "Origin servers temporarily unavailable" comes up and that origin can't load my games. I've once again tried all the fixes that people have done, but still my games are not showing up. Thankyou once again and I'm sorry if this is a bother.
