Re: Saves not loading after update to Big Sur

@Spontosaurus

Please open Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and copy and paste the following then hit Enter/Return:

find ~ -type d -name "*The Sims 4*" 2>/dev/null

It may take a minute to return results. After it has finished please copy/paste the results here.

    @Bluebellflora I fixed it actually, there was a new sims4 folder created in a different location and I hadn't realised so I moved the save files over and now it works, but thank you!

    I am having the same issue but I can’t seem to find another folder anywhere - what location did you find the second folder in?

  • @laura_b_15 Hi, for me, it created the folder just outside the documents folder, see attached pic, when usually it is in the documents folder

    Thanks for getting back to me. I don’t think my issue is caused by the same thing unfortunately ☹️ but thanks for the info

    Can you please follow the Terminal instructions in my post above? It's a deeper search on your Mac than Spotlight.

    My save games have disappeared from the game as well - updated macOS to Big Sur

    I've already repaired the game on Origin, still nothing

    @silvana85676

    Is the saves folder in /Users/silvanaalfarano/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 empty? This is where the game looks for saves to load.

    You also have an Electronic Arts > Sims 4 folder in your iCloud Drive, have a look in there for your old saves folder. In Finder click on Go in the menu bar then Go To Folder, enter this then hit Go:

    ~/Library/Mobile Documents

    Apparently the entire content of my documents folder vanished, so I copied it all back from the cloud - thank you, problem solved! ❤️❤️❤️

    Sounds like your Mac stored it there during the update process as it was running out of room, good you found it 🙂
