Can you please move/rename the Sims 4 folder then launch the game so a new one is created. Play a brand new clean save and see if it still happens. Ive done this after reinstalling the game and a new folder generated in documents, the same issue is occuring.

Thanks. And you didn't move any of your previous content such as mods/CC, saves, settings over to the new folder?
I think the problem may be a performance issue with your Mac, not an issue with the game. Try closing all other apps so only Finder and Origin are running. If you have any background apps running such as Spotify/Drive/antivirus/scanning, as indicated in the top right section of the menu bar, close those too. Have a look in Activity Monitor and see what is using significant processing and graphics power and if you can, quit the processes making sure it has no bearing on the OS.
You could also try playing in a new user account on your Mac. and see if there is an improvement. Sorry I'm aware this issue is 2 months old, I started school recently and work a lot so I haven't played much recently. I can confirm this is an issue with the game itself and not my Mac or the installation. It most likely occurred after ea made a native apple silicon port, I never had this problem running the game through rosetta. There's some type of issue with the animations smoothing and the frame rate of the walking animation being different from the frame rate the rest of the scene is being rendered at. Its become to the point where the game is simple unplayable because its such a strain on my eyes and I have a friend who also has an m1 MacBook and has the same issue. Id really appreciate it if this is looked into more. Look at the sims when they walk, you may notice them to be stuttering and bouncing while the rest of the game maintains a consistent Frame rate. Ive wiped my Mac completely and reinstalled Mac OS played the game at the lowest settings (even though m1 is listed as an uber tier gpu in the graphics card.sgr file) and the problem persists. Thank you and sorry for the late response.
Its worth noting that I have tried using game mode in the new update and I use things like red quits and ccleaner to keep my Mac clean and running smooth.
I don’t see this at all on my M1 MBA running Ventura, neither do a couple of other Simmers that I asked to test at the time. One on a M2 Pro and the other M1 MBP.
Wiping the Mac is a good test if you don’t load the same data back onto it. A clean user account is a good test of other apps running in the background causing issues, although not if those apps are installed in /Applications rather than ~/Applications.
Hopefully Maxis will see this and add it to the pile but thankfully it’s not affecting all Mac users and isn’t a game breaker.

Apps that claim to remove unwanted files like ccleaner, cleanmymac and others are horrendous and a relic often used by previous Windows users. They are never needed in macOS, have a look at Apple’s support forums at the multiple threads on them. They can destabilise the OS and individual apps by removing files they shouldn’t. Your Mac would thank you for removing them and never using them again 🙂 Very strange, I don’t have problems with any other games or apps or performance in general and I’ve tried running the game with a fresh install of Mac OS on Ventura, I’m genuinely confused because the game actually runs very well, it’s simply the walking animations that look jittery and horendous, sure it’s not a game breaking bug but it is one that significantly effects one’s ability to properly play the game as it is a big strain on one’s eyes, you’d have to have it happen and see it with your own eyes to understand. The odd thing about it too is that it seems to happen when the sims walk or run longer distances specifically. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and I genuinely would like to fix this.
Is there anything else that comes to mind that might be causing this?

Only background processes which may be using resources and affecting gameplay but I would have thought it would affect other gameplay elements too, like camera panning. Could you upload a video showing the jerkiness? Easier to upload to YouTube, unlisted, and paste the URL in the video option when you Reply, not Quick Reply. Make sure the video is set to large. - TheSimsDirect2 years ago

Hello @Friendlysimmer1
I just want to +1 the video request from @Bluebellflora. It will be helpful for us to see what the issue looks like.
