@laurenbendall I've moved your post to the Sims 4 Mac section. Please provide the full specs of your Mac—everything listed in this post:
- @laurenbendall Can you tell us what Mac you have, whate version of macOS you have, and what the GPU is that is in your Mac? All of this information can be found at Apple menu -> About this Mac. Thanks!
- AL404916 years agoRising Adventurer@laurenbendall I have cc installed and took out the mods that have had problems previously, but my game crashes every time I click on a household to play since the update yesterday. My Mac supports metal so I have no clue what they problem is. HELP
I got the same problem, it freezes halfway throught loading the game, and then mac automatically restarts or shutdowns. I uninstalled both origins and the game repaired and other stuff. Still not working.

As @puzzlezaddict and @dzm06 have already both asked, we need the specs of your Mac to try and help you. You may not think it is important but I promise you it is, especially at the moment when there are so many issues with the game on Mac. - @YuukiTDF
Could you see if you have more luck playing in a new user account on your Mac? Do not copy over any of your saved games, you must launch a new, clean game within the new user account. - AL404916 years agoRising Adventurer@AL40491 So I found out it was the Nix (I think) werewolf and genie script mods from Mod the Sims that was messing up my game. If you have these installed take them out!!!
- @laurenbendall I have the same problem. I play on a MacBook Air early 2014 and I also installed my game on my boyfriends MacBook Pro to test and it happens on both computers. That update just made playing an awful annoying experience for Mac uses. Plus the screen flickering:/
I am having the same issue!
I don't have any mods or anything, using a 2017 Mac 17inch, fully up to date.
When I start the Sims 4 it takes over half of my screen with the black loading screen and leaves half of my desktop screen up. It completely freezes my Mac and I get the spinning wheel. I have to force restart my computer.
So far I have deleted and reinstalled Origin and all my sims games. Updated the game. Repaired the game. Factory reset my MacBook. Turned off automatic updates. I don't know what else to do at this point.
I did launch origin on a PC and I had no problem playing on there...please help!
I am also having the exact same issues - crashing, freezing, screen graphics flickering, weird shapes, colors messing up. All after the most recent update. Not sure why this is happening but it sucks. I tried unistalling and reinstalling and moving my sims 4 folder and starting a brand new game still nothing. So i know its not my saves. I have no mods or CC.
