sims 4 loading very slow

okay so, my sims 4 had about 45gb of mods on it, and it loaded within 5-10 minutes. pretty annoying, but it worked. as soon as i put my whole game + ea folder onto my hard drive, it started taking 30 minutes to load. however, w/o my mods folder in there, it takes the normal amount of time any sims 4 game without cc would. is it the problem with putting my mods onto the hard drive, or do i just have too many mods, or is it a certain mod? i probably won't end up cutting down my mods folder, but i just wanna know the reason behind it

  • @s0phva Since you have tried without the mods, there's a high chance that the size of the mods could be one of the reasons too. If you're not sure which mods, or the size of the mods folder, perhaps, you might need to test each of the mod & see if there's a mod that corrupted that could cause the lag. I'm just wondering, how big is your available storage on your Mac? It's best if you have a lot of extra storage for the game to run smoothly & probably deleting all the caches & in-game notification too.

It all depends on the external drive you're using, whether it's an older spinning HDD or an SSD/Flash drive. The connection also matters, whether it's a slower USB-2, USB-3 or faster Thunderbolt/USB-C.

The faster the drive and connection, the faster your game and user data will load.
