Sims4 still crashes or hangs with latest patch on MacOS

Hi all, Writing on behalf of my daughter. On macOS Catalina 10.15.7, macbook pro 2018 15", would not want to update to BigSur given already the troubles here.... Game version 1.69.57.1220, at least...

Macbook pro 15, 2018.

2.2Ghz 6-core i7

16gb of ram

Radeon pro 555X 4Gb

I believe we tried clearing out that folder yes.

Would there be some more engineering-centric help just than poking around and hoping for the best that EA could provide?

I told my daughter to call me if she encounters the problem again (but she's not definitely playing everyday :-)) so that I can try to run "spindump" on the sim4 pid, since there is nothing showing up in the Console.app.

Disabling automatic graphics switching seems to help those users (see solution on page 1 in the link) but they seem to have to download gfxCardStatus to make the switch permanent as the Mac is trying to switch back to the Intel chip.
