Why is sims 4 not opening?
I have had sims 4 for over a year now with no problems. Since around boxing day (of 2017) I am no longer able to open the game. I can open Origin and go to Sims 4, but when I click play the game says...
Hi @ejane223
All systems are different and I don't know that much about a macbook... but check: the following It's often tied to Graphics Display as well.
To open System Information directly, hold down the Option key and choose Apple menu () > System Information. You can also use Spotlight to find System Information, or open it from the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
Select items in the sidebar to see information about each item. For example, the Hardware section shows your Mac serial number, the Memory section shows how much RAM is installed in each internal memory slot, and the Software section shows which startup disk (boot volume) your Mac is using. You can use the Network section and the Network Utility to learn more about your network.
To have System Information read your serial number aloud, choose File > Speak Serial Number.
To save a copy of your system report, choose File > Save.
To learn more about System Information, choose Help > System Information Help.
You can see more by following the above steps.. and/or copy and pasting exactly what specifications your system has here.
Thank you,
I have checked everything, and from what I can see my macbook should all meet the requirements you had listed previously... I don't know why it isn't working... Do you have any more suggestions as to what I can try?
again thank you for all your help!!
"If you’d like to try an automatic scan of your computer to see if it can run The Sims 4, visit the System Requirements Lab site and run their Can You RUN it tool for The Sims 4. <<< let me know how you go with that tool.
You also didn't mention what your Graphics Card (mem) was >
I tired to run it, but my computer says "no available applications can run it" (in regards to the test)..
sorry to clarify it says it is for windows and my macbook does not support it
What I could find about my graphics was :
Intel Iris Graphics 6100
Have marked this to be moved to the Sims Mac section.. Until you hear back, here is a few more things

How can I tell if my Mac meets those requirements?
Use About this Mac to check how your Mac matches up with the minimum and recommended requirements.
nb: Hope the above helps, if not please wait until it's moved to the Mac section and someone answers there...
Right, let's see if we can get you some Mac specific help 🙂
Can you please disable Origin in-game and see if that helps?
I know you've posted some info in previous posts but please can you provide more information about your Mac and game (if disabling Origin didn't work). Instructions on how to do so and info needed here - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612396/highlight/true#M162
Hello,
I have tried disabling origin in game and that still doesn't help, I have also tried opening sims 4 out of my applications instead of origin and it still won't open.. it just goes to the rainbow wheel and says not responding...
I honestly don't know what to do anymore, I am really upset that I have spent money on this game and can no longer play it.
Can you please provide all the information I asked for in my previous post? If you follow the link it gives you instructions on how to find it and what I need 🙂
Hello,
So from what I can see (I'm not very good with computers)..
I have a macbook pro version 10.11
the processor is Intel Core i5
the graphics are Intel Iris Graphics 6100
on my memory I have 8GB
and on my hard drive I have 40 GB free...
And what model and year is your Mac? There are various different MacBook Pros and Apple have been producing them for over a decade 🙂
sorry its a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Thanks 🙂
Can you please do this:
Once the game is showing as installed try and load it. If that doesn't work then please set up a new user account on your Mac and see if you can play in that account. If you need help setting up a new user account just ask.
I followed your steps above and I still can't open the game, every time I launch it the rainbow wheel pops up and I cannot launch it...
How do I set up a new user account?
Thank you for all your help by the way!!
You're welcome 🙂 Have you installed any antivirus or 'clean up' apps recently? Anything between it working and then not working?
To set up a new user account go to System Preferences > Users & Groups. Click on the lock in the bottom left corner and enter your password when prompted. Then click on the + button above the lock. In the pop-up window select a new Administrator account, give it a name and password then click Create User. Close System Preferences and anything else you have open then click on the Apple in the top left corner and log out. Now log in to your new account, open Origin and log in then launch the game.
I haven't installed any cleanup apps or antivirus apps lately or sine it hasn't been working.
I also just set up a new account just like you said above, but the game still won't open.. it still shows a rainbow wheel and application not responding...
Ok, this is frustrating! If the following doesn't work then I'm not sure what to suggest. Let's completely uninstall the game and Origin. You can also remove that account you just made.
