Did the latest patch update break the game?

I have been having issues all day with the patch update. When it gets to 8% it crashes (and has bluescreened my pc several times). I went through and checked for system and driver updates but there was nothing. File locations are all right, as well.
So.. is anyone else having issues with downloading the new patch?

I cannot load EA application without it trying to install the patch and the only way I get it to stop auto downloading is by crashing the app, uninstalling, and reinstalling.

I would super appreciate any and all help with this. I have been really distraught because I have spent the last three or four days working on a big high school build.. was planning to finish it up and upload it today and Bam! game is borked! T_T

    puzzlezaddictThank you for your help.
I attempted to install again in preparation for running another dxdiag and got "EACerfSubProcess.exe application error" and "The exception unknown software"

Turns out, I was missing a graphics card update.
I had to remove the old NVidia GeForce app and install the new NVidia app. I wasn't aware there was a new application.

Since the download of TS4 patch was stuck at 8%, I had to remove/uninstall the EA app again and reinstall. I was able to repair the install and it is able to be played now. 🙃

  • flokeebee  The latest update isn't broken in general, in that most players have been able to install it without issue.  A few players have reported problems, but no more than usual.  Patching the game should NEVER cause a BlueScreen though.

So I'd like to see a dxdiag from your computer.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

both updates have mucked up my mods i redownloaded them still have issues not getting anywhere

  • flokeebee  Your dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4 crashes, or any BlueScreens either, but I do see a few crashes of a component of the Realtek audio driver.  Lenovo offers a slightly newer driver (9.0.9363.1) for your laptop, so try installing it and restarting your computer.

    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/legion-series/legion-5-15ach6h/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Audio&id=3AA7F1C4-5B2A-453C-9CE2-B8FCDA8B69BA

Your laptop's built-in speakers and headphones both use this driver, so if the new driver doesn't help, try unplugging your headphones and routing sound through your standalone monitor.  That uses the Nvidia sound driver.

If you get another crash, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
