Freezing and/or lagging for long period of time after update

Hi, I’m experiencing heavy lagging and/or freezing after the grim reaper event update I want to participate but after a few minutes it lags then freezes I only have MCCC and that’s not it. It worked well before the event update I tried other families I made in my saved files but it’s doing the same thing I googled it but I’m getting mixed answers. I use the EA App to launch my game on my laptop I’m so far behind I want to play the game but the heavy freezing and lagging are making me not want to play it anymore please help me TIA!
