Game crashes when I want to play with a family or start a new one

I just updated my Sims 4, and also bought some new packs and when I wanted to test them and play a new and unfamiliar family appears on the main screen, so i wanted to create a new one but when I clicked on create a new family my game just crashed. So i thought okay lets try and see what this family is and when I clicked to play with this game a code 22 appeared on my screen and i was on season choose screen, i repaired the game twice, started my pc again, moved modes from the sims, did everything i could think of and everything i could find in this forum but i still can’t play….

Does anybody had this problem or maybe knows a solution to this?) Thank you in advance!

So I tried it all and my game still won't load, and for now as I looked into the Reliability Monitor it had a few errors and this is the recent one:

jenny15cooo  Please try playing in a new admin Windows account.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to launch the game without reinstalling anything.

If that doesn't help, please try playing in a clean boot, still in the new account:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the culprit, then either leave that disabled or (if it belongs to an app you want to keep using) let me know what it is so we can try to fix the underlying issue.

If the game freezes or crashes in a clean boot, please try again, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

If this doesn't help either, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to play.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

I'm going to bed now but will check back once I'm up again.

I saw this error message after I tried to launch the game, the first time I moved the folder on my desktop, but now I don't get this message,

    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.5371]
    (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Users\PC>reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
        Personal    REG_SZ    C:\Users\PC\Documents

I also included a gif file of how this all looks when I try to start a game

  • jenny15cooo  When did you see the error about not having enough space for the game, as in, were you trying to launch it, was it loading, were you doing something else?  Please also post a screenshot of the error if you can trigger it again.  It's fine if it's not in English.

Please also let me know whether your Documents directory is in OneDrive.  Search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, and enter this command:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

Please post the result.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username, but leave the rest intact.

  • I still couldn´t play, it also said that I didn´t have enough space for the game but I have 100 GB on C: and 298 GB on D: where the game is located. So here is my dxdiag!

  • jenny15cooo  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you get that far.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
