Game Will not Launch with mods

I know you don't support mods. Not what I am asking. I play on Steam and all my purchases have been made through Steam. This has been happening since a last update yesterday or day before. I can removed mods folder and it goes into game. However, when I get in game and look to turn off mods I cannot turn off Script which has been this way for some time now. I tried verifying files and it said there were 58 that failed and would need to reacquire. I uninstalled reinstalled Sims 4 and verified again and all was good. I also repaired and reinstalled EA app. Still  will not go into game with mods. I find it very odd and I have went through since last big patch made sure my mods were updated and was able to play with mods. Until this last update/or whatever it was. It loaded quickly whatever it was. That is when all the problems started with mods. I have went back through and made sure they are all updated and reloaded with fresh ones. I am at a loss as to why it will not allow mods now but was fine before the last short update. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Is anyone else having this issue?

red X The message that I get Unable to start:  Cannot start because game data is missing or damaged. If you have Mods installed please remove them and try again. If not, please repair or reinstall the game via Origin.        [de4ee14f:29f00e76:00000000"4b0d852b]

  • Phaewalker  There's nothing obvious in your dxdiag, and I'm not sure how the App is failing to install to the point that it can be used or Revo can detect it.  But what you can do from here is manually delete the main files and use Piriform's CCleaner (the free version) to try to clean out everything else.

Make sure no EA-related services are running in the Task Manager, including in the background processes list.  Open C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts and delete the EA Desktop folder.  Use CCleaner to search for anything EA App-related, review the list to make sure nothing you want to keep was flagged, and delete the rest.  Then restart your computer (first) and try again to install the App, again with your antivirus disabled.

Downloaded EVO uninstaller it brought up my Files as you can see there is NO EA App installed it will NOT install it only goes through to repair. I cannot get login to make another clean save at this point and I have not idea now if it even saved the one when I could at least login to menu screen but not into game. Sorry I just can't comply to that request at this time since as you can see it will not install the EA App. When I did the repair the first time it removed the app and will not reinstall it even though it says it is. Rebooting after each time now 8 and still no EA app installed. I cannot get into the game to even create a clean save now. I do not have an anti virus on my PC.  What else other than making a clean save at this time can I do?

  • Phaewalker  Then please post a screenshot of the current error.  I was going by the only error you'd previously posted, which is completely different.

You can also try uninstalling the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  If Revo can't find the App, download a fresh copy of the App installer and run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  You may be told that the App is already installed and given the option to repair it; do this.  Once the App is installed, close it and use Revo to remove it before doing anything else, so it (hopefully) doesn't have time to break.  Then you can do a proper clean install of the App, again running the installer as an admin.

If you use a third-party antivirus, it's possible the software is interfering with the EA App.  So I would suggest disabling it while testing Sims 4 and while reinstalling or repairing the EA App.  You would of course reenable it afterwards, and if necessary, you can set exceptions for EADesktop.exe as well as TS4_x64, TS4_Launcher_x64, and TS4_DX9_x64 or TS4_x64_fpb if you use the DirectX 9 or Memory Boost version of the game.

The ERROR I am getting is a pop up that says can't find application. Has nothing to do with mods  period. Was logging in with a "Clean GAME" NO MODS as I already had stated when it will not log in at all. When I realized the update I created a Clean Game but it still will not log  in and it cannot find the app. Since I have done a repair on EA App 6  times now and I still get the same Pop up saying the application cannot be found because it is not installing the EA App I would guess since it is gone and I cannot find one on my computer since the first repair restart.

  • Phaewalker  If you're getting the same error that mentions mods, there are non-mod-related suggestions in the master thread I linked.  But that's not going to help unless the EA App is working.  Does it load properly if you open it separately, as in, can you see your game library, friend list, etc.?  And if you launch Sims 4 from within the App, trying the workarounds in the thread I linked, does anything help?

I have renamed my Sims 4 folder started with a Clean game and still cannot get in. I have uninstalled Sims 4 and EA App and reinstalled them I have five times now repaired EA App and restarted my compute and still get the same error cannot find app.

  • Once again with CLEAN GAME NO MODS it cannot launch because it EA App will again not install. This Started after this last patch again.

  • Phaewalker  Do you still need help?  If so, this sounds like it might be antivirus-related.  Please see the first post of this master thread for help:

As for why this started happening now, it's possible your antivirus updated, or maybe you changed which executable Sims 4 is using (Memory Boost vs. not, DX11 vs. DX9) and the antivirus is blocking actions from the new .exe where it was fine with the previous one.
