Game won't start after installing Get to Work

Good day,

I am having trouble to start a game. After buying and installing expansion pack Get to work I cannot start the game.

Following things were done

  • Moving whole folder
  • C:\Users\Natka\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
  • Running as Admin Ea App and The Sims 4 (all .exe files within
  • C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\) as administrator
  • Clearing cache of Ea App
  • Uninstaling and installing the The Sims 4
  • Installing latest drivers
  • Repairing the game files (2xtimes)
  • I have included main folder of the game and document folder of the game to windows defender exceptions (Also disabled windows protection temporaly)

Mod folder was removed before moving the Docment folder. I have attached dxdiag file for this matter.

It behaves from Ea App as it is "trying to run" but never truly runs it. When trying to play it from .exe files the Ea App shows "Preparing game" dies and does not start it.

Please, take a look into this. After this long debugging it does not make sense that with one Expansion pack is game unplayable.

Looking forward to hear from you soon,

Since your dxdiag doesn't list any Sims 4 crashes, that suggests the game is being blocked from starting rather than crashing.  When you changed Windows Defender settings, did you also check Controlled Folder Access, and either set exceptions or disable that feature?  If not, please do so now.

If this doesn't help either, or you already tried it, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  (Keep saying you don't have that info until you get some security questions instead.)  You'll be able to at least try to launch the game without reinstalling anything.

Please try playing with nothing currently open on your computer other than the EA App.  And check the TAsk Manager for anything already running, for example Edge and Teams might have some open processes eating RAM in the background.  With only 8 GB installed memory, you'll want as little as possible running when you want to play.  Your computer's page file is also somewhat small, but if that were the issue, I'd expect to see a particular type of Sims 4 crash in the dxdiag.  So we can circle back to this later.

If you can't play in the new Windows account either, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to open Sims 4.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
