So i was playing my game offline because i just got the notification for the update and it froze so i waited a while still didn't do anything so i tried to close it in task manager still didn't do anything my laptop was just stuck on the play screen after about 30 minutes i just unplugged my drive and restarted my pc after reading some stuff on here everything started to load up fine then it said the actual EA app needed to update before i could do anything so i did that when it was done it said i needed to install sims 4 it wouldn't let me go back offline i went to check my game junction and it wasn't there anymore tried to redo it that wouldn't work and i tried both command codes (the mklinks method) gave up for a few days tried again today now my EA app wont open at all its not even showing up in the task manager so im redownloading it now has anyone else had this happen? Is there a fix for it or do i just need to start over with downloading sims 4 and add my saves back into the new game? Im honestly about to give up on this game everytime i get it working again something happens😭

  • BabyTater23  Does the EA App work right now?  If not, please download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and use it to remove the App.  Choose the Advanced scanning method when asked.  Then restart your computer, download a fresh copy of the App installer, and run it as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."

If Revo can't find the App, download the installer, run it as an admin, and allow it to "repair" the App install.  Then try using Revo again, and reinstall the App as described above.

Once the EA App is working, you can "download" Sims 4 to wherever it's already installed.  The App may simply verify the files and complete the install process rather than downloading everything again.  (I've had mixed results when testing.)  This WILL update your game, but there's no way around that at this point.

There's no reason your saves and other user data should be removed unless you happened to store this content in the same location as the program files.  If you're not sure, you can make a backup copy of your saves and Tray folders before trying to "install" the game, just in case.
