- Press Windows-Key + R
- Type: DxDiag
- Click on Save all Information.
- Attach the Text File to your post

@sapphicday  I'm sorry, but your laptop is below the minimum requirements for Sims 4.  That doesn't necessarily mean you can't play, with some interventions, but I'm not sure how much of a difference those will make.

For now, your dxdiag lists some generic Windows errors, so please first run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Please also increase the size of the computer's page file, as described here (option three):

Set the minimum to 12000 and the max to 12288, then restart your computer.

If there's any other data you can move to your external drive, now would be a good time.  While your internal drive isn't critically low on free storage yet, increasing the page file size will eat into what you have left.  You must have installed Sims 4 itself on the external, but perhaps you haven't moved the user folder, which is a separate process:

Hi! I've been having the exact same problem, my game keeps crashing and it's been going on for months. When I tried the method used in the comments, it kept saying error. Could anyone help me, please?

@Ulorens  The instructions to change the page file are only helpful in a narrow set of circumstances and shouldn't be a first-line troubleshooting step for anyone.  Instead, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know how it runs.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Hello! I tried doing what you told, but it wouldn't let me run the game without the "The Sims 4" folder inside the Electronic Arts folder. In fact, it wouldn't even let me open the EA app.

@Ulorens  Sorry for the late reply.  Where is Sims 4 installed?  You can see by opening the EA App and selecting Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.

Please also confirm that you're working with the Electronic Arts folder in Documents, not the one in Program Files.  Don't search for "Electronic Arts"; open the folder manually.  And to be clear, your game should NOT be installed anywhere in Documents, for various reasons.  But if it is, don't uninstall yet—you'll probably want to take steps to preserve your saves and other user content first.
