No save files will load

Since the update on 12/5/26 none of my saves will load, will just take me back to world map after trying to load for 5 minutes. I have repaired all mods, removed mod file and tried to load (still nothing) repaired game in the EA app and still nothing. I've ran plumbuddy and removed any duplicate mods and anything that's out of date. I'm scared to clear cache in case I lose all saved files, and a save I've had for years with multiple generation.

  • CydSimmer  The spam filter might be overactive at the moment, unfortunately.  The easiest way around it is to open the file, delete the first line of text, and then attach it as a .txt to a reply.  (Not deleting the first line will definitely block the attachment.)  If that doesn't work either, upload the LE to a third-party filesharing site and link it here.  Make sure it's accessible, for example the Google Drive setting is "anyone with the link" can view it.

    Good Evening,

I just tried to copy and past my LE here and the comment was rejected. How can I post it here?

  • laupowe  You can move the lastexception files elsewhere if you want.  They're only useful for the purpose of troubleshooting; they're output only and don't have any effect on how you play.  So you wouldn't lose anything by deleting them, but there's also no meaningful difference between deleting and moving them.

CydSimmer  I'd like to see a LE from you as well.

I am having the same issue. It appears to only occur with saves that have infants. I loaded a save that I thought was corrupted. This save has no infants. I have no mods or cc placed in my new mods folder. I am experiencing infinite loading screen and losing music only when trying to load into a household.

Theres a lot of last exception files, 11 to be exact and some called lastUIException. Should I delete all of them or can I remove them to somewhere else?

I still got all the mods out and same with save files, i backed them up and putting them in one by one. I've got most loading but my main save isn't working. I'll post photos of what comes up when I try to launch it and the folder with the saves in

  • laupowe  Please open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete any lastexception files you see.  Try again to load one of your saves, still with your Mods folder removed, and when it doesn't work, look for a new LE.  If you find one, open it (Notepad is fine), copy its text, and paste it into a reply here.

If you don't get a new LE, try a new save, for comparison's sake.  Try a different household in one of your main saves as well.

Clearing the cache files in the Sims 4 folder doesn't delete saves.  Those are only stored inside the saves folder; there's no save-related data elsewhere (except when you have the game open).  Clearing the EA App's cache is even more distant from your save data.

You can also make a backup of the saves folder, and in fact it's a good idea to have one just in case something else goes wrong.  An external drive or USB would be preferable, but if you don't have one available, you can place the backup elsewhere on your computer, just not in Documents or on the desktop, as these locations can be synced and files therefore deleted.
