Pixel Glitch in Game - HELP!!

For some reason my sims 4 has developed a issue where if anything pops up in front of the game screen (i.e. a notification from my desktop, or even just the volume control when I turn the volume up or down) then that part of the screen will be all weird and glitchy with multicoloured pixels.  I have no mods, no CC, I've cleaned my desktop, I've deleted the localthumbcache a million times. I've even uninstalled the game and reinstalled which took forever because I have every pack. I'm literally completely lost what to do!! Does anyone have any idea?!

  • WaitsonTheFirst  Thanks for the dxdiag, which lists a pile of generic Windows update errors.  So please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

For the Sims 4 issue, please update your graphics driver, which is from 2020.  You can get the newest driver from AMD here:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/ryzen/ryzen-4000-series/amd-ryzen-5-4600h.html

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

If that doesn't help, please disable any virtual display software you're running.  Your dxdiag lists one such app from Huawei, but I don't know exactly what it is (other than that it exists), so you may need to poke around in the Task Manager to find it.

Thank you so much, it worked! No more pixel glitches in the game. Your instructions are really clear and idiot-proof.

I also run the suggested checks. In point 4 I didn't get any errors and after doing the point 7 I got the message:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag."

  • claudiasimmons  Please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the camera (Insert Media) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Hi, I have the same problem. I believe it first appeared at the beginning of October, but turning laptop off and on helped. Problem came back after the recent update and this time off-on method doesn't work. I also tried repairing the game via EA app and taking out script mods from the folder.  Nothing helps.

      Here is my dxdiag.
