I don't really grasp why it's desirable to have dedicated devices for each Springfield. In my case I would probably lose track of them.
That way I can play all 3 games simultaneously. It only takes a few extra seconds to repeat the actions in each game (zip around and tap all the buildings, characters, etc or do the event tasks), whereas with only 1 device I'd have to do one game, then switch over and do another game, then switch over and do the third game... I tried doing that when our internet was out and had to go somewhere with free wifi (not a lot of options on that around here BTW) and it was a PAIN. And I kept forgetting to do things which meant going back...
And then there's the neighbor visits. Our internet is so slow I can tap 3 things in two of my towns while waiting for a third town to load. Outside of events it usually takes me an hour & 15 minutes to do all my towns. I can't spend 3 hours & 45 minutes doing Friend Actions every day. And INSIDE events... I've had to cut my visits down to 20 neighbors a day because it takes so long to track down invaders - and it still takes me almost an hour to do that. - wadebearRetired Hero

has to be a tablet??? I'd look into prepaid phones and just connect to wifi if size is not a big factor.
I see you didn't read my reply to someone else above...wadebear wrote:
I used to play games on my old iPod Touch but I started getting headaches. Then my vision started going and it just became impossible. That's why I moved up to tablets. - wadebearRetired HeroOk, so now you guys (speaking non-genderishly) have got me looking at Fire tablets. Hmmm...
The biggest drawback I see is the delay in updates. I've seen so many complaints here in the forum (and other forums) about how the Amazon updates always come out hours after the iTunes and Play store updates are available.
How about connectivity? My Nexus loads neighbor towns the fastest, followed by the iPad Mini - with my Galaxy Tab dragging its feet in third place.
I may have to wait a while anyway. All they have in stock are black 8 GB models (I'd prefer a Blue 16 GB one). I guess they ran out of stock on everything else because of the Prime Day sale?
Oh, and I just took a look at the Amazon App store... I can't find most of the games I have on my Nexus:
Pac Man
Plants vs Zombies 2
Futurama
Hmmmm... - 4junk3000New SpectatorOh.
If you want to buy locally, to support stores, and have an option to return it, then do so. Go buy a device and feel good about it. But that's not typically where you'll find the best price, because they have more overhead maintaining that store.
Come on, you know this.
I thought you wanted something cheap. Cheap AND local = on clearance, and that means visiting stores daily and looking for that one old stock item that's been marked down, and getting it before anyone else.
The middle ground if you have a hangup with ebay is to buy from Amazon Prime where THEY cover any return issue very quickly.
Good luck shopping. If you don't mind waiting you'll find what you want.
I have a spare Nexus 7 '12 with good battery and USB, but cracked glass/no touch function. Someone sat on it in bed. I was saving it for parts backup. Would this thing help you? - wadebearRetired Hero

Well, I've thought long and hard about this...
Thank you for the offer but I'm going to pass.
1. The issue with the USB connector seems to be a major design flaw involving the case. I think any replacement would just tear up after a short time.
2. A 4 year old battery is a 4 year old battery. Actually, not having been charged for an extended period of time could have put it in a worse condition than mine.
Oh, and I've looked at Amazon Fire tablets. Of the several games I play on my Nexus the ONLY one I can find in their store is Tapped Out. And then there's the update delay issue.
I'm thinking about the new Insignia Flex 8.0 from Best Buy. It's only 70 but has better specs than my Nexus (and 16 Gigs of storage). And if it doesn't work out I can just take it back to the store and get a refund. - I tap on a Kindle Fire. It was $50.

Yes, and I was tempted... But like I said: The only game I play that I could find in their store was Tapped Out. There are several other games I play on my Nexus (Plants vs Zombies 2, Pac Man, etc) that I wouldn't be able to play. And since I want a cheap tablet that I'm not afraid to lose or break if I carry it with me to a doctor's appointment, extended shopping trip, etc... It's a pain to have to lug around multiple tablets.
Oh, and the cheap Fire doesn't even have a rear camera if I want to take a picture - like if we were in a traffic accident or something.
I wish I could justify the expense of one of the larger smart phones, but given that they don't work very well (if at all) out where we live I just can't. Those monthly charges would eat my budget alive. - I'm currently tapping on an RCA 7" tablet. Walmart has them for $43 for the 8GB version and $49 for the 16 GB version. It comes with Lollipop. It runs a little slow at times, It crawled during the early days of the monorail. But right now, It's been doing well in Tapped Out. Disney's Magic Kingdom is where it's having troubles. But, I'm thinking it might just be the game.

Both my husband and I got the $50 kindle fire a couple of months ago when Best Buy had them for $40. They do have front and rear facing cameras. They are also expandable as they accept a micro SD card (up to 128). (I had an original kindle fire which was heavier, did not have the cameras, and was not expandable so we decided to upgrade to the new cheaper ones).
We got them because they fit in either my purse or my hubby's cargo pocket and we love to play TSTO while sitting in Springfield at Universal eating our Bumblebee Man taco, Krustyburger, or Lard Lad donuts and drinking our Flaming Moe. (Actually we got them because we go to Universal and Disney 3-4 times a year and hate to miss out on an TSTO event while we are in the parks. The smaller size and weight of the fire is great for carrying around the parks and the screen size is much easier on the eyes then our cell phones while we play while sitting and resting before tackling the next ride/show.)- Wadebear, look into RCA tablets. Either a Viking or a pro. I got a 32g rca tablet for under 100$ and it has a USB port, HDMI port, sd port, blue tooth. Check em out on Amazon. Don't buy it at Walmart. Their more expensive than amazon. Happy tapping
